Guest guest
It is so exciting to see you are making GREAT progress with your CI. The thougth of "firing" the interpreter is beyong my wildest dream. I wonder if I will do same. I "should" hear sometime this week from my state if Medicaid approve my CI request, I hope they do...... a bit too late for Christmas hook up but HECK,,,,, will be moving my hearing aid to other ear and hopefully my Christmas will not be that "musicless". I can't wait to see poeople's reaction once they find out that I won't have to rely so heavyly on lipreading.... the hope, excitment,,,, all this that goes with CI..... i just cant wait. Good luck on your progress! Lee CI candidate
Guest guest
Jarom, Thank you for this post. This gives me such hope for Diamond. She is 3 1/2 and is deaf from birth. She was fitted with HA's a year ago but to no avail. We just got her about a month ago. I am taking her to the ENT at AI DuPont next month, to talk about CI. She was supposed to receive them a year ago, but another family was going to adopt her, and being a deaf family, they didn't want her to get the CI. I have heard from several places that she should have been fitted sooner, and now it will be so difficult for her to learn to adjust and to learn to speak... don't expect too much. I have thought all along, she is only 3. Even if she is 4 by the time she can hear, she can still learn to talk, etc. But, what do I know? It is so great to see how well you are doing being fitted so much later. Thank you again. You have made my day. ---Lee, mom to 11, 8 official, 1 by birth, 7 at home. My candidate for CI is Diamond, 3 yrs, Lumbar and Sacral Agenesis, deaf, other issues, my shining star. lwillis56@...
