Guest guest
Well I am afraid I tend to overlook the small joys even with this map I am anxious to get rid of. LOL But then again, isnt it fun when you realize it and go, Oh yeah! Was going home on the bus yesterday. A little girl was sitting across from us, just transfixed by my guide dog. A few stops down, she and her mom got off. I was daydreaming when I saw them exit the bus. She had her back to me, was maybe 15 feet away, off the bus, when she said over her shoulder, " Bye doggie! " I KNOW I heard that. LOL Then today, leaving my favorite mocha shop, an employee, behind me, said " Have a nice day. " What was neat was I did not know he was there and he was also about 15 feet away. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Ordinarily he was insane, but he had lucid moments when he was merely stupid. --Heinrich Heine & Gimlet (Guide Dawggie) Portland, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rlclark77@... http://home.comcast.net/~rlclark77/
Guest guest
Hi, Everybody, In our community we have " Trick or Treat " on the Friday evening before Halloween between the hours of 6 and 8pm. I know it's dumb, but I guess for security it's better for the police, and we've been doing it this way for 20 years. Anyway, with both kids out of the house, Halloween is still a " kick " for my husband and me. We both answer the door, my husband usually telling me what some of the youngest had to say, and they always have plenty to comment on. Last night a cutiepie came to the door all dressed in black and pink trim. She was the cutest little kitten I've seen. Not really expecting an answer, or to hear one, anyway, I asked if she could " meow " . Well, I heard this little thing Meow and it was such music! I know I wouldn't have heard it just a few months ago. Another little girl was a darling princess. When told to take as many candy bars from the candy basket as she'd like (it was near the end of the time period) she proceeded to load up with about 8 of those little fun bars! She then exclaimed, " hey, my bucket is getting really heavy! " Not quite believing I had heard her, I looked up at her Dad standing just a few feet away and said, step up and help this princess please! The princess smiled and said Thank you! Now, this doesn't seem like much, but I'm learning very fast just how precious hearing these little ones, in costume and looking down and through a mask, really is. I still have trouble hearing the cashiers in the grocery store, but hey - I'll take what I'm getting in anticipation of more in the weeks and months ahead. I hope this encourages some who are just beginning their journey back to sound. For me it's been a long road with a few unexpected and unappreciated turns, but here I am. Next week I go for a new mapping and a routine check-up with the surgeon, so I will report in then. My dizziness and nausea SEEMS to be just about gone, but I don't want to speak too soon and jinx it! LOL Anyway - Happy Halloween, All. Have fun with it! ) Jackie Implanted - right ear - Oct.2002 - Nucleus 24/3G Reimplanted - right ear - Jan.2005 - Nucleus 24C/3G Implanted - left ear - Sept.2005 - Nucleus-Freedom
