Do you mean a nebulizer? I have severe asthma and I have never heard of anybody using it in such a casual fashion. The albuterol that is used in those things can cause temporary arrythmia, among other things. I'm not saying you heard her wrong, but it seems irresponsible of the therapist to use it on her son if he's not asthmatic.

Yes, sorry for my ignorance, it is called a nebulizer. That is exactly what she told me, that when her daughter gets a runny nose, she uses this on her.

I had no idea that it can cause that! I guess I won't be following her lead!! Maybe she just assumed had asthma (he doesn't) and was saying it in the context that her daughter has asthma- and this is what she does, I don't know, she didn't say that. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me, I was left with the impression that this stuff is actually harmless and only helps them breathe better!
