Guest guest
Well, folks, congratulate me beause I made it through my daughter's wedding on Saturday without eating anything I wasn't supposed to, although I did have a sip of champagne to toast the new couple, and I enjoyed one bite of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake wedding cake. The dress that I had ordered months ago as a size 4x / 28 was ridiculous on me.....who knew that that could ever happen? So I bought a lovely new suit from Lord & s the week of the wedding, with a long straight skirt, a sleevless lace shell, and a silky jacket, and when it the temperature rose to the high 90's, I said the heck with it, took off the jacket, and actually went sleeveless in public. OH MY GAWD, at a wedding no less. At my DAUGHTER's wedding. I was thrilled to be wearing the size 20/22. I wanted to take off the corsage, and put the dress tag on my chest, instead <g> (Ok, I'm excited to be losing weight, but I'm not completely insane- I wore the jacket for the photos <g> Not only did I not splurge at dinner, drink the wine or overdo on the cheesecake, I also did not smack the groom when he told the brides great uncle ( who was the Southern Baptist Minister they had asked to perform the ceremony) that he was an atheist and didn't want any of that " God stuff mentioned during the ceremony " .I did not tell the bride, my lovely daughter who somehow went from being a charming 20 year old self sufficient young woman to being an obnoxious 17 year old sullen teenager the day of the wedding to f* off at any time during the day ( and believe me, that I accomplished THAT without a bottle of champagne is a victory in itself!) I did not smack my own mother for chuckling at how obnoxious the bride was being to me, I did not even turn to look when one of my nephews screamed " " and jumped off the diving board into the pool just as the non-religous vows were being uttered, even if it did cause a splash of water to sweep over the caterers.....
