Guest guest
Thanks Gayle. I was really concerned about it. Do you think I should just take the whole thing off altogether and stick a hearing aid in the other ear? I would hate to have anything damaged. But when the audie showed me the equipment I was concerned. She also told me a lot of people thin their hair out where the magnet is. I hope I don't have to do that I like my long hair and really don't want them to cut a lot of it off. it took me years to grow it.
Guest guest
Thanks Lee, I might just stick a hearing aid in the other ear temporarily. I don't want anything falling off.
Guest guest
, Express your concerns to your doctor about your hair and you will likely find that he will accomodate. The incision now can be done so that there is no noticeable loss of hair and if you have long hair - that would be and extra plus as you can easly cover the incision with your long hair. I color my hair too and I colored mine the week before the surgery so that the color would last long enough for the healing and then I colored it again. It's best to ask your medical team about when to color or perm again. Long ago, it was suggested that I thin a very small (about the size of a pea) section for better contact because I have very thick hair. I did this for a while but you couldn't see it because the spot was so tiny and the other hair covered it. I stopped doing this when I became more and more confident that I would not lose the headpiece or the processor. I don't think I've shaved that tiny spot in about 3 years now even though no one could see it. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it although I've seen this question many times. I promise you that the new hearing will make you forget all about these worries. It happens to all of us. Alice
