Guest guest
, It sounds like you handled the casting process perfectly! What a great mommy!! Do you know when you will be able to go in for the fitting? Isn't it amazing how resilient babies are? It's too bad we cannot retain some of that into our adulthood. Thanks for sharing your experience. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
It can be scary and I think all of use sympathise with you. However, it is so quick that he won't even notice. When it was time for our 4mo. old to have his casting we went through the same thing, it was even scarier while we were in the waiting room another child was been casted and he was crying like crazy!! but you know what worked for us? we fixed a bottle and fed him while the casting process was happening. He didnt even notice what went on, all he cared about was been fed. We took my mom for help, so if you have anyone else besides your child's father whom you can bring along do it, the extra hlep won't hurt. Also take some favorite toys to distract him. Hope this helps and best of luck Casting Process My name is Ronda. I am new to the group. Our son, Hayden 5 months, will be fitted for his helmet at the end of this month. The casting process sounds so scary. A netted sock is fitted over the child's head and a hole is opened at their mouth for them to breathe. Then the plaster is applied to their head. Any suggestions on how to soothe a child during this process? My son, unfortunately, does not like to take a pacifier. I guess my other concerns are that he will not get adjusted to wearing the helmet and will cry all of the time. It is hard because we want the best for our children, but we hate to see them in any discomfort. Thank you,Ronda, Mom of Hayden 5 months. Any questions? Get answers on any topic at Answers. Guest guest
Hi Rhonda- My son Liam was casted the week before last and he gets his helmet on thursday. He actually didn't mind being casted and he wasn't casted for long. They had a mirror there where he could see himself and he seemed to like that as indicated by his smiles at himself. Liam didn't like it when the cast came off- it slipped over his eyes for a moment. But, it was over soon. Soothing I did was pretty similar to when he was immunized and it was " over " within about five minutes. Hope it goes well for you. cheryl mom to Liam- 6.5 month >From: " rjwhite844 " <rondaj@...> >Reply-Plagiocephaly >Plagiocephaly >Subject: Casting Process >Date: Mon, 04 Dec 2006 18:45:48 -0000 > >My name is Ronda.
