Guest guest
Heres my take, Everyone knows, in order to lose weight, you need to eat less, basically you need to eat no more than 1000 to 1300 calories per day, over an extended period of time. However you choose to do that, is fine. By yourself (ie diet and exersize) is FANTASTIC, if you can do that. With assistance (from the band, zetacap, or ? Ive heard of a baloon that can be inserted in your stomach and blown up) is fine too. However you can do it, do it. Just do your research before trying ANY method. Only you know yourself, and whether or not you have the ambition to do it without assistance. Those of us on this board, who have the band, have done our research. Many of us have tried every other method within our reach, both legal (zetacap, diet pills, laxatives, diet and exercise, etc etc etc) AND illegal (amphetamines, methamphetamines, etc). And yet here we are, months and years later, with our past experiences behind us, and our lapbands in place. Seeing is believing. Want to believe? Well, sorry to be crude, but take a look at my ass. My rear alone, is HALF what it was, a year ago. As for whether or not it is worth giving up your car? Knowing what I know now, if I had it to do over, I would sell my HOUSE if I had to, to get the money. Actually, in a way I did, since I took the proceeds from the sale of our first house, and banded myself with that money, rather than rolling the equity over into my new home. Trust me, lose fifty pounds, and youll be happy to JOG to pick up your daughter from daycare. I walk all the time now, and leave the damn car in the garage. Why drive three or four blocks to the store to pick up a couple things? I toss the baby in the stroller, my older girl walks, and we enjoy our walk to the grocery store. I actually plan to buy a trailer for my bike when I get back to the states, and will be biking to walmart from now on, its only a mile and a half. And FYI, at the time my husband and I made the decision to band me, so to speak, we were NOT rolling in money. My husband made 10 bucks an hour, net income per year was about 14,500, so the cost of the band was well over HALF a YEARS income. It was NOT a decision made lightly, or with excess money laying around. We actually used the proceeds from the house to pay off a credit card, then wrote a check from the same credit card to pay for the band. At the time I was banded, we owed (including the band) twenty five thousand dollars to various credit card companies. Were pretty close to the bottom of the food chain, as far as our income range. It was a serious deal, trust me on that. (Om Hasen, ie Mother of Hasen, and Sukayna) Banded 3 9 05, started at 270, currently 183, believe that!
