Guest guest
Many of you old timers may remember Osler from Ohio.she's a tireless nurse and a great friend with a huge heart. Below is a message that she gave me permission to post to this group. She may be thin but she will always love and remember the obese that are still suffering. V " I've been working with this organization- 25 (see the link below). I was married by the minister that runs it, Wendell Metty, and used to baby-sit his kids. He left his church to become a missionary primarily to Nicaragua. He leads medical teams and feeds the malnourished- he's a good guy.Now he's using his warehouse and resources to help the people down South. Truck loads were pulling up, and everyone was helping. It was beautiful! Lots of Cincinnatians have been donating goods to this group and I spent today volunteering in the clothes sorting area. It really struck me that there were not many clothes for the morbidly obese. They need new, sealed underwear, bras with tags and cool summer clothing - preferably new (tags still on), but used will work. IF you can donate these items to a collection in your area that would be great! As a former MO group I thought you'd appreciate this specific need. I don't doubt that each one of us are doing our part to help out. I wouldn't expect anything less from this group. Just thought it hit very close to home that this need may not be getting met. If you could spread the word to other WLS patients- I'd appreciate it.
