Guest guest
Kendra, The shot Livia will be getting is the Meningicoccal Conjugate Vaccine. They are starting vaccinations for children under 2 Sept 17 - 28th available in all Edmonton public health centers. I am surprised they are not doing it in Calgary? Maybe they will be doing it soon. I hope so for Hannah's sake. It is crazy how many cases it takes for them to consider it a serious problem! They vaccinated all the teenagers and under 5's twice, but NO, we do not have a problem with a meningitis outbreak!????? What the heck do they think we are? Idiots? Call the Capital Health Link to find out more info on the vaccine in Calgary. Or to your Public Health centre. They should know more about it soon. I believe the vaccine protects against both Meningococcal meningitis(affecting the brain and spinal cord) as well as Meningococcemia(which is the more serious infection of the blood and many parts of the body) Anne Mom of Livia(10 mo) Canada

Guest guest
nna, I do believe we got our vaccine from Great Britian. I remember hearing about it on the news last year. Maybe you should petition your health care system to aquire it as well?
