Guest guest
Dearest, precious Libby, I can't begin to tell you how much I will always treasure this. You are such a love to create this beautiful, tribute to " Our Daddy " I am honored that you would hold him to your heart like this. I am certain that he is smiling in Heaven as he watched me read this out loud to my whole family as we all cried. Everyone was so touched by your loving creation. I spent the day working on preparations to make the final rest for my Daddy's body as good as possible. I am very tired, yet very touched by all the love and support I have received from all of you, my dear, beloved friends. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and Libby, once again, words cannot express the feelings that you have given me in reading this tribute to my Dad. Love you all, Rashelle -- All you ever were and all you ever hadBegan a long, long time agoAnd started with your DadHe filled you with his wisdomHe filled you with his loveHe set you on the road of lifeWith help from God aboveHe helped you understand thatThere was nothing you can't doHe inspired in you the confidenceThe courage and hope, tooFrom his own wise experienceHe gave you all the rulesDeveloping " The Victory " And other helpful toolsHe'd watch you with those loving eyesWhen things became a messAnd gave you such encouragementWith every small successAnd so Rashelle's dear DaddyIs in Heaven, and we're gladBut through his inspirationWe have all now lost a Dad. Guest guest
Dear Rashelle, Heck, I cried while I WROTE it! (smile). I just appreciate so much the way he raised you to look at things and it makes me think back hard and appreciate those positive things my Dad has done for me. Ironically I spent last weekend preparing my Dad's arrangements. He is not gone but the last steps of closing the family business are looming and things need to be in place and paid for so we can pay off the last of the bills and not leave ourselves short. My sister has a lot of difficulty with this kind of business so I thought I would take care of it. She has suggested as I have been looking for a stone that we also bury my daughter's cremains and put her name on the monument as well. I was truely touched by her thoughtfulness as her death was very painful and it's time to give this closure. My father has been lamenting not having handled the business things better but my sister and I have reassured him that we already have our inheritance: faith in God, our education (we both have degrees and GOOD jobs), a strong work/can-do ethic, not to mention really good teeth! We will likely have to sell the " Lloyd " style house he designed and built but it is a " thing " . We had a wonderful " advantaged " childhood with lots of travels and opportunities. By what I have " inherited " from YOUR Dad I know I can be happy either way things go which is what St. always talked about: learn to be happy no matter what your circumstances! Imagine...what a GOOD time he is having even right now! Healthy and free! Hold on to that...smile as you talk with his friends. When Mom passed away last year we were so appreciative of her pastor: people came out of her services with SMILES and were UPLIFTED. Our slightly wacky family custom for funerals is to make big, Martha style iced cookies: for Sierra's it was sunflowers (she had done a Van Gogh style painting), for Mom it was Cardinals. I found out later that a few people preserved their cookie and use it as an ornament to remember my Mom. What I have learned from YOU, Rashelle is how PRECIOUS people are no matter what their physical/financial circumstances. What a lesson for all of us. We hold you in our prayers! Love and Pahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (you didn't forget, did you?) Libby > Dearest, precious Libby, > > I can't begin to tell you how much I will always treasure this. Guest guest
Kendra: I'll check that out tomorrow when I'm not so stinking sappy. Man, I just watched that telethon for the past 2 hrs & hearing those stories just totally depressed me. Then reading about Duncan's leukemia depressed me too - although, thank God, Duncan has such great news, it's just sad. :'( Sure makes me grateful for what I have, that's for darn sure, I'm going to go give Abby another kiss, I don't even care if I wake her! Guest guest
Thanks for the warning about needing tissues. I think I should really start buying stock in Kleenex. I have been extra sappy since my brother decided to go up to New York to help out, and then that telethon got me going...regular waterworks here. Thank you Kendra for sharing this truly beautiful tribute with us. Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA > Hey all > Check out this website. Guest guest
Niki: Wasn't that telethon great?? I heard on GMA this morning SO far they rec'd over $100 MILLION in donations!! WOW. I wonder if they plan on releasing a CD of the performances to make more money - that would sell a lot & earn much more needed money. Debbie Abby's mom p.s....I was thinking of donating millions if I could have a date with Jon Bon Jovi!!! hehe, man he's hot! He also performed " America The Beautiful " in a taped perfomance shown before all the NFL games yesterday . gotta go - Abby's eating a crayon for a snack..grrrrr > > Hey all > > Check out this website. Guest guest
Too funny Debbie! When Jon Bon Jovi came on I thought of you, I kept saying to my hubby, " Gee I hope Debbie's watching this, she loves him " . To which he would reply, " Who's Debbie? " I swear when I talk to him I can actually see the words going in one ear and right out the other. Never heard 'Living on a Prayer' that way before. How about Tom Petty's 'Won't Back Down', was that awesome or what?!?! Totally gave me chills, that song has taken on a whole new meaning. If you're brave enough and still have tissues left over, here are a few more tributes: http://cypher.webgroupmedia.com/deafdate.php http://www.americatriumphant.com/ Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA > > > Hey all > > > Check out this website.
