Guest guest
, This is a wonderful report. The news is a great relief. I'm very happy for you and so glad that you let us know. You deserve it! Alice http://www..com <I'm hearing better than I have in 4 years. Guest guest
That is fantastic, ! And its due to turning off 6 electrodes on each side? Interesting! *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* There are 24 hours in a day, and 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not! & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@... Guest guest
I'm glad to hear this, . Take the positives and stop wondering why. Things happen for a reason and usually at a time NOT of OUR choosing. Ted F. > > Hi everyone, > > I heard from my CI audi about my CT scan results and she said everything was normal. Guest guest
Thanks, Alice. For as much worry and anguish I went through regarding this, it was all worthwhile. Now all I need to do is wait to hear back from my audi to find out why this happened in the first place. Guest guest
, Yep. 6 high frequency electrodes were turned off on each side. Apparently they were what caused me to hear speech in a muddy, distorted manner and high frequencies as being off-key. Who would have thought? What's also interesting to me is the fact that I'm still able to hear high frequencies despite the 6 electrodes being turned off -- they just don't sound as loud or off-key as they did before. I'm not sure why that is, but I'm certainly not going to complain! I think this is worth celebrating with a strawberry mocha, don't you? LOL! Guest guest
Ted, If the same thing happened to you, I'm sure you'd also wonder why it happened. Guest guest
, We are different people. I would have been so pleased with the good news, that I wouldn't want to take it any further by asking why did this happen, in the first place. You dont need to know the answer to every question and you will never find the answer to every question. Worrying unnecessarily, isn't a part of my life. I'm quite happy to embrace good news. Guest guest
I'm happy for you Ted, but as you said, we are different people. I tend to worry about these kinds of things and don't think there's anything wrong with that. My audi completely understood my fear, so why can't you? By the way, I also look at the positives in life, but when there's a problem with my CIs, I don't take that lightly. Guest guest
There's ALWAYS someone worse off than us. Read about this 27 year old mother of two, in the UK: http://tinyurl.com/auvzsf Would you swap places with her? These things just put things into perspective for me and make me realise, that no matter what my ailments and there are many, that there is always someone doing it tougher. Guest guest
Ted, Who is worrying? Have yuo never wondered about something and took the effort to find out more? When you had problems with your Freedom processor, didnt you work to find out what was causing it to fail? And then work to make sure it didnt happen again? Is it not how we learn? Or are you content with not being curious and not wanting to learn? Think about this, if it wont take too much effort. Imagine the pioneers who led to the marvels we wear on our ears, and consider the flip side if they had not questioned and wondered and asked more questions. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Be kinder than necessary, because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@... Guest guest
Oh and by the way, a healthy worry leads to solutions. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. " Hear that? " you say. " That's dynamite, baby. " --Jack Handey & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@... Guest guest
Ted? Why are you belaboring this? has every right to be concerned about things. What does it have to do with someone else who may have it tougher? If she gave in and stopped worrying, she would not have gotten new maps that, after 4 years mind you, have given her much improved results. And you, Ted, if you took the same mindset as you suggest she take, you would not have sought to have the failed Freedoms resolved for there are others out there who have it much tougher, so whats the big deal about a processor that quits.. Guest guest
Ted, When it comes to my CIs, I don't care about anyone else. I'm perfectly aware of the fact that there are people worse off than me. I don't need to be reminded of that, but it still doesn't change the fact that I worry whenever something happens to my CIs. My CIs are precious to me (as I'm sure they are for many people on the list) and I can't stand to think about the possibility of anything happening to them. If you can't understand that, I'm sorry. Guest guest
This is the last comment I'm going to make regarding this topic and then I'm done. My CI audi understood my concerns and acknowledged the fact that it's scary when something like this happens to your CIs. Try to put yourself in my shoes. How would you feel if you were totally deaf and blind? It's not the end of the world, but after being able to hear for the past 4 years, I've grown attached to my CI hearing and don't want anything to threaten it. If that's too difficult for you to understand Ted, so be it, but the next time you have problems with your CI, don't come crying to the list or to me because I won't have any sympathy. Guest guest
SO very happy for you, . They say everything happens for a reason. I'm not sure I agree, but in your case, it certainly resulted in a good outcome (new and improved hearing!). Guest guest
I'm not talking about getting things checked out about your C.I.'s, . You posted here about an upcoming scan. I can even understand your trepidation about that, but you have since been told that there is nothing wrong and now you are going to pursue why you went for the scan in the first place. That's MY last word on the subject. Ted F. > > I'm happy for you Ted, but as you said, we are different people. Guest guest
- I too am glad all turned out okay for you. What a relief it must have been! And, as a side note, I've been following what you said about how your hearing improved with having the top 6 electrodes turned off, yet you are still able to hear the high frequencies albeit softer sounding. Since I am having trouble with distortion with my CI - and more than likely it is the high frequencies since I've been totally deaf to those sounds since birth, I'm suspecting that this may be what I need to do too. I've been in communication with my CI audi and will be making the long drive to see her soon. I'm also seeing my HA audi today to turn down the high frequency gain with the new HA. It is still causing too much distortion.  Well, we gave it a good try anyway to see if I can have more higher frequency gain. Guess it's not to be. Again, glad to hear all turned out well for you. Best of luck to you as you continue to work toward good health and hearing!  ________________________________ From: " lkozlik@... Guest guest
Thanks, ! <smile> If you decide to have any of your high frequency electrodes turned off, let me know how that goes. Having 6 electrodes turned off on each side may seem like alot, but I honestly can't tell the difference except by the increased clarity of what I hear. I wish you all the best in working out your current difficulties as far as your CI is concerned. Hang in there and let us know how everything goes!
