Guest guest
When my child was born 27 years ago, I did the Lamaze method. It was wonderful! No pain at all. All the hospitals around where I live have childbrith classes now, no charge. Many Blessings,
Guest guest
Hi Carly- <You wrote: " I am assuming that what you wrote above is not a judgement about women who scream during childbirth??!! I say that because I used to think (before children) that women who screamed during childbirth were being somewhat melodramatic, and should probably 'get a hold of themselves'. Absolutely no judgment in anyway intended. Indeed, I truly attempted to make that clear. The validity of your statement, " I remember feeling betrayed by everyone, and thinking 'but no-one told me it would be like this!' and looking with scorn at the magazine articles that seem to paint a pretty picture of the whole process. " has been documented in studies (I couldn't the reference just now) However, if many resources have been added-knowledge, self-relaxation techniques, training, exercises, etc. it doesn't have to be that way. Too many of the " natural " birthing programs present as fact that pain is inevitable and you just have to know how to cope with it. HypnoBirthing® teaches many techniques for allowing the unconscious mind to take over the process and let Mom's body function as nature intended, calmly and comfortably. My wife has worked with at least 3 labor room nurses and taught them " plumbing " and anatomical facts they were unaware of. And as Glyn pointed out, there is a lot of cultural influences involved also. There is an inverse correlation between the medicalization of birth (as in the " developed " countries) and undeveloped cultures and the degree of childbirth pain experienced. I believe the statement on a plague on either an Irish Pub or an Irish church: (depending on the source) says it all: " If I were born where they were born, and taught what they were taught, I would believe what they believe. " I believe that EFT is the 2nd most powerful resource providers could give to pregnant Moms. Because of the knowledge they receive to enable them to truly enjoy one of the most natural of all human processes, I would place HypnoBirthing® #1 Keep tappin' > Roy said .......... I would say they " put up with that " not because they were nutso, but because they lacked any better resource to help them be comfortable. Unfortunately their " moaning and screaming " will just add to the perpetuation of horror stories about birth. > > Hi Roy > > I did speak to a couple of the midwives who were in charge of the labour ward at the time whilst the screaming and moaning was going on. These women were apparently offered pain relief, but because they were told, (not sure whom by) that " natural childbirth " was the way to go to bond with the baby, they refused the pain relief. Hence my comment that they were " nutso " only in my opinion of course. > > My cousin is a senior midwife and administrator in a private maternity hospital here . She tells me in some cultures, the louder the screams from the women, the bigger the gift from the husband and family when mother returns home. Go figure !
