Yes, I drove. Or rather, rode. My husband, two kids, and I made

the trip. We got picked up in California by Nina, who took us

across the border and to the hospital. I had pre-op tests, and Nina

took my Husband and the kids to the hotel. I had surgery the same

day I arrived, pre-op tests in am/early pm, and surgery in the

middle of the afternoon.

The day after surgery, at 5-ish, Dr. Aceves released me. His wife

took me to the hotel to stay there with my family. (This was my

choice. I had the option to stay in the hospital another day--

actually, I was encouraged to stay in the hospital another day. But

I begged to go to the hotel to be with my family. My youngest was

only 9 months old, and I hadn't ever spent the night away from

either kid before--and one night was enough. Even when I gave birth

to the second, I did it at a birthing center and went home within

hours. Anyway, I digress.)

The next morning, his wife picked us up, shuttled us on a couple

personal errands for my husband, took us to the hospital to say

goodbye to Dr. Aceves, and back across the border to our car. We

drove home, and I was back by early evening.

The drive wasn't bothersome at all. I had taken some liquid tylenol

that morning, but didn't take any the rest of the day. Actually,

that was the last time I took anything for pain from the surgery. I

did munch gas-x off and on for the next couple of days. I had a

minor amount of gas. It wasn't painful or anything like that, but I

used gas-x anyway, because I had bad experiences with gas when I was

pregnant with my second and didn't want to chance anything. Anyway,

it didn't last long--a couple of days, maybe.

It's a 4.5 hour drive. We stopped once to put gas in the car, and I

walked around a bit, went to the bathroom, etc. When we got home, I

watched some TV, and went to bed fairly early (maybe 8:30?). By the

next day, I was pretty much back to my normal life/routine.
