Guest guest
, We used them with any clients who had dominance issues, especially teaching them to parents to use at home. They are inexpensive, effective and easy to use. I must admit I found less utility to things like the " brain buttons " and stuff like that, but the cross-crawl stuff, double-doodling, lazy-eights and others seemed to be quite effective. Pete brain gym Hi. is anyone using brain gym techniques? Is it a useful adjunct to neurofeedback? Thanks and happy holidays.
Guest guest
shelly as a specialized kinesiologist, i've been using brain gym and other methods out of specializde kinesiology for several years now. in my experience, brain gym-exercises are good to be done at home or at school for parents and teachers, etc. they can also be useful as an addition to therapeutical work of different kinds, for the client to be done at home. in my office, however, i am not using them very often. there are more precise methods now in the field of specialized kinesiology. i would like to mention " leap " (learning enhancement advanced program) by dr. charles t.krebs, which is very much based on actual findings in neurology and in specialized kinesiology. i do combine " leap " and neurofeedback in my work with add-kids and children with different learning disabilities and am seeing good results so far. my experience in neurofeedback is still small, though (i started out last march), but i find this combination promising. best stephan odermatt-siegrist, switzerland

Guest guest
We have been using brain gym exercises for several years and find that it helps the neurofeedback process, especialloy for those with ADHD, sensory motor integration problems, and non verbal learning disabilities. We usually have the parents buy the teachers manual for home practice. Also I recommend the book by Hannaford, Smart Moves. Crago Ph.D. Neurobehavioral Health Services 5363 E. Guest guest
How frequently do children do the exercises at home and for how long a period of time? Are there permanent changes or do the activities have to be ongoing? -- In , " Crago " <bcbrain1@m...> wrote: > We have been using brain gym exercises for several years and find that it helps the neurofeedback process, especialloy for those with ADHD, sensory motor integration problems, and non verbal learning disabilities. Guest guest
hello i use brain gym execises individually. my general experience, however, is, that they work best if done repetetly over a couple of weeks. the client can get familiar with them, and repetition here seems to have a great impact on the outcome. after several weeks of regularly using brain gym, my clients choose the exercises they enjoy most doing and do them either every day or in situations they feel appropriate. however, imo brain gym exercises work best if embedded in other applied/specialized kinesiology work stephan odermatt-siegrist, switzerland > > Message: 8 > Date: Sun, 05 Jan 2003 19:19:56 -0000 > From: " lmqh28 <lmh28@...> " <lmh28@...> > Subject: Re: brain gym > > How frequently do children do the exercises at home and for how long > a period of time? Guest guest
Lynn I use brain gym with all the attachment or special ed (or both) children I work with. I have many other " assignments " also, so I ask the parents to be aware of over-therapizing the child, but I encourage them to use them until we've had some substantial success with goals we've set. Exercises like double doodles are particularly good for adoptive/foster/attachment children, because the parent guides the child's hands which strengthens the parent-child relationship (touch, empathy, trust, etc). Guest guest
Hi Drea - and everyone else, since this is my first post Brain Gym is fab - your son will benefit from it greatly. I've been using it for several years and have taught my children, too. There's a bit more to it than cross crawls - many exercises to help to learn, play, think, study, concentrate - I'm a student and have benefitted greatly from the learning and communication groups of exercises - ask the teachers about the book you can buy to support the after school activities. Good luck to you both! Blessings Fiona
