Guest guest
Hi , I am slowly beginning to understand my body wants a different caloric intake as well. I keep getting stuck every 8-10lbs even though I don't stick to the same calories. But for me getting stuck is not losing or gaining for a week or so. I know that isn't textbook " plateau " guidelines but more like " tracy's crazy rules " . For example, I have been bouncing between 211 and 212 for a week now. To me, I am stuck even though I know a week is not enough time. The other day I decided to not eat very much mainly because I was going to break through this " stuck " feeling and also just as you mentioned, it is blazing hot and I don't eat much when I am hot. I thought for sure I had lost weight the next morning before I stepped on the scale. I mean, I was so sure it would say 210. I got on and I had actually gone from 211 to 212! So that day I just decided to eat normal, maybe my body was wanting more calories, and sure enough, the next day I ate regularly and in fact, more then I usually do and lost a lb! So go figure...our bodies are all different and strange. I agree, tricking the body so it doesn't get used to a certain amount of calories is a good idea. I think I am getting stuck at certain weights because in the past, I have stayed at these weights for a period of time. Once I get under 200 I think it may go faster until I hit 180 which is another weight I weighed for a long time. Do most of you agree your body has a " memory " of a certain weight? I think this is why: I'm consistent about my caloric intake on an average basis, not on a daily basis. What I mean is, if you averaged my daily calories over a week, then I'm taking in on average 1250 cals a day. However, my daily intake is all over the chart. Guest guest
Yes ,I agree, I just wondered if anyone else had had the same experience. Also ,have you had a problem with metabolizing carbohydrates? I think I had too many yesterday and today I really feel bad. had to drag out of bed to come to work. I use to feel this way a lot nefore I was banded but then of course my diet was a lot of fast food... so learning the hard way I guess about new ways of eating now that affect the way I feel. -----Original Message-----From: [mailto: ]On Behalf Of MillsSent: Friday, August 05, 2005 8:36 AM Subject: RE: breaking plateausHi , I am slowly beginning to understand my body wants a different caloric intakeas well. Guest guest
Hi all. I am still on the challenge to break through this plateau I am on!! :-) I didn't work out Friday or Saturday. :-( But I am going to work out today extra to try to make up for it!! :-) But the good news is I put on a pair of 18 pants that I have worn in awhile and last time I wore them they were tight and when I put them on they were pretty loose!! :-) So, I have lost inches, wooo hooo!! :-) I was also doing a friends hair who works for a bariatric center here in Washington as a nutritionist. She is a wealth of info! she told me I need to start to have 2 protein shakes a day and add some calories to my diet. she said if I am working out hard but not getting enough nutrients, protein, or calories that my body will not go into a fat burning mode. She said the whole goal is to turn your bodies metabolic rate up and turn yourself into a fat burning machine. And she said sometimes the way to do that is to actually increase your caloric intake!! But she stressed that those calories must be well chosen. To add more protein, more fiber and more healthy choices. So, I am going to take her advice. Like I said she is a amazing wealth of info. I try not to pick her brain to much though, because I don't want her to feel like I am trying to get " free advice " . I know that sometimes professionals hate it when you do that. like when you find out someone at a party is a lawyer and you start to ask them legal questions. they hate that! So, I try to be respectful of her advice and not act like I am bombarding her with questions (even though I wanted to!). She was also telling me about a support group that Franciscan health puts on. I may start to go to that too. So, I quess this process is a learning experience!! :-) have a great day, hugs,
