Guest guest
If your stomach has good, well chewed solid food in it, it is fairly neatly packed. Imagine, say, a small balloon full of ? rice, I guess. (Similar idea--very very small particles packed tightly in small space.) Anyway, unlke rice, food is moist and is packed in there with saliva, so there's even LESS room for the food to shift / move around. So, if the small pouch is full, it's well packed. Maybe like a baloon full of mud? Anyway, if you dump some water (i.e. drink after eating) on top of the well packed food, there isn't really ANY space for the water, you were already full! And sense you're WELL filled and your food is therefore most likely VERY well chewed, it's all packed and there's no space for it to shift around or anything, to let the water either flow through, or around, or whatever. So, if you drink after you eat, you may very well barf. So, don't do it! Just like if you eat a big bite of food after you're completely full, you'll barf it up. If you must drink, try to wait at least 1/2 hour, to let some food pass through to make room. (Wait longer if you want the full sensation to stay!!) Anyway, after 1/2 hour, start with small sips. Eventually (maybe 5 minutes) your pouch will empty and you'll be able to drink. I've been known to do this, when I need to eat, but also need to drink because I don't want to get dehydrated. The alternative is, drink small sips, between bites of food. AGAINST THE RULES AGAINST THE RULES!!! But, it will wash food through as you eat, allowing you to eat more, and allowing you to drink continuosly. WARNING: You will NOT feel full, if you wash your food through. If you're not careful, this could cause your weight loss to stall. Doing this has yet to make my weight loss even slow, but if you misuse it, you could defeat the band, basically. -- ps if what you're saying is that you're pb-ing if you do the small sips between small bites of food, then what's happening is that the small amount of food, is getting stuck right in/at the stoma, with the water behind it lodging it in. In this case you'll maybe want to change what you're eating, if you're going to drink with it, because whatever it is, is turning to glue/paste when liquids hit it, and therefore can't get moved through.
