Guest guest
Kim, sounds like you need another fill. You will be able to tell when you are restricted, believe me. Sounds like you aren’t quite there yet. Make another appointment. Sometimes it can take 4-5 fills before you get to your “sweet spot”. It seems I can eat any amount of anything (not good) without any problems or ever feeling full. I am not drinking with the meals and am still chewing things up really good. Is this normal? I am disappointed as I thought feeling the restriction of a fill would help in my portion/appetite control. I am also not loosing weight and have been banded for almost 8 weeks. Could the restriction be delayed? I would appreciate any input or help. Thanks. Kim
Guest guest
Thanks , How close together can your fills be? Is there a possibility that my restriction is delayed...or is it just not enough? I appreciate your input and help. Thanks, Kim > > Kim, sounds like you need another fill. You will be able to tell when you > are restricted, believe me. Sounds like you aren't quite there yet. Guest guest
Hi , some fill doctors have you go on liquids for a few days. Did you go right to solids? Maybe your stoma is irritated? Try not eating or drinking anything for 6 hrs to let your stoma relax and then start with some sips of warm liquid. If that works, stay on liquids for a day, then the next day try a little mushy food. Remember to take it slow, small bites, chew everything to mush, and don’t over-stimulate your pouch. I hope you feel better soon! I try to eat, and I end up getting sick. Even soup sometimes. Anyone have this problem, did I have to much put in? I had a 1.5 fill.
Guest guest
Hi Rosie, So good to hear from you. Where you been? Remember chew, chew, chew, chew, etc. and when you think you've chewed enough chew some more. I didn't really gain over the holidays, well I was going up and down two or three pounds and now I'm ready for only down. Getting a fill on Saturday Yeah !!!!!!! I had that happen before and it does loosen up, but try not to irritate your stoma to bad. Throwing up is not good. Take Care and let us know how your doing. Deb <roanch@...> wrote: I was banded in May 06, lost about 15 lbs and had my first fill in Aug with about .75 cc's. That fill didn't work as I felt no real restriction and gained back most of what I had lost. On Friday I had my second fill (another .75 cc's for a total of 1.5)....and boy what a difference. Not sure if this is normal but I'm having a hard time getting anything down...even soft scrambled eggs hurt when they go down...its a feeling of being stuck...I'm actually kind of happy because I've already lost 6 pounds since Friday and I'm starting to think this time it will work...however, I'm feeling a little tired and I'm thinking its because I'm not getting enough nutrition. Will I loosen up a little? Also...when I've gotten stuck...I have to make myself throw up...its the only way I find relief....Plus a strange thing....when Im stuck that way...I get the hiccups....any words of wisdom from anyone?By the way...my fill this time was without fluoro....RosieMiami,Florida __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hey every body , I don't post much but I do read every day. I was banded 10/19/06 I had my first fill a month ago, my band holds 4cc The fill Dr. put 2cc in, I was surprised that she put that much in the first time. I did fine. I have not had any problem this far with any of the foods that I eat, no not even eggs lol. I chew, chew, chew. I have found that some breads were hard to get down so I don't eat much at all of bread. The Fill Dr. said She wanted to see me in a month, that I would probably be needing a fill by then. That is Monday 1/15/07 I am just nervous about how much she will put in. I hear stories about needing an infill.. I have lost about 23lbs all together not much of that was after the fill, but I have lost inches, and I am good with that. My concern is I have restriction in the mornings, like no food at all only liquids till about 10:30 or 11:00. I did read that it could be that I am not getting enough H20, I am wondering if I get another fill on Monday will I be sooo tight that I will not be able to get fluids down? well last time, she (the Dr.) had me drink real fast to make sure it goes down. I have been trying to get in more water. My daily intake looks like this. I drink 3/4c of coffee in the morning a bottle 16oz water, then about 20min later I have a 42gram protein drink and in 30min a yogurt. noonish I eat a salad or lean c. hour later 20.0z bottle of water I work on till almost dinner last night I ate almost 3 pieces of pizza not big ones, and I don't eat the back crust but I thought that was allot. 1 hour after dinner I start trying to get some more water in. what do you old timers think on where I am. I will probably get a fill but not so much? Karol Levy
Guest guest
Here it is, you can find other ones on the internrt too. Sometimes its called beer butt chicken. We never have any beer around so I use pop in a can and it works real well too. The chicken is really moist and tender done this way! Here in our area I cook what we call a " drunk chicken " but I have found you can use many many things besides beer. Take a can (coke/beer/water) empy 1/2 of the liquid out,,,put bell peppers, onions, garlic,,crawfish boil Or pepper (basically any seasonings you want) cut up into it. Take a whole chicken & Put the can (yuk don't know how else to say it ) up the chicken rear.put a whole small onion in the neck. Stand it up in your oven in a cake/cookie pan & bake for approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours (depending on the size) @350.....it is extremely moist and then when you reheat it all you have to do is wrap it in foil add a little bit of water to the bottom of the foil and reheat in oven. Or if you use a microwave, add little water cover and microwave (about a tablespoon)...we have can stands here in our area but I don't know if they can be bought outside Louisiana. Delicious...each liquid gives it a different taste...You also season the chicken...I use Tony Cacheries seasoning (also to our area) but you can use garlic, salt, pepper, onion salt, Chicken seasoning just about anything. Guest guest
Holden, If you need a fill....GO GET ONE! If you are not filled your band is not fully operational at this point. BUT, don't rely on the fill to do all the work for you. YOU have to make healthy choices even when you have a busy schedule. I know how hard it is to avoid the fast food drive thru as well as the candy. I am a chocoholic and giving up candy was not something I found easy to do. In fact, if the truth has to be known, I still indulge in the stuff when I can! However, I do watch my weight constantly and if I see that I am going up a pound or two or three, I immediately cut back and get it to go back down before I indulge again. I think that is what people of normal weight do. They eat some treats but not on a daily basis and if they see their weight begin to creep up, they take their diet by the helm again. YOU can do this. YOU can make healthy choices if you really work at it. In fact, if you continue to go to fast food places, at least make healthy choices there. Most of them serve salads, right? If your band can handle salads, do this instead of burgers or fries. Those will NOT let you lose weight. Really try to refocus on your task at hand. You have spent alot of money on yourself to get to a healthier weight. Now it is up to you to make that money worth it. Afterall, YOU are worth every penny that you spent so just get back on top of things, go get a fill, and really work to make healthy choices! Good luck and email me privately if you want.
