Guest guest
: Abby had plagio but there are some parents in this group whose child had/has bracheo with a helmet or band to treat. Sorry I can't give you much info on it. As for you staring at everyone's head - we ALL do that now! Isn't it pathetic? I drive myself crazy looking at heads. Last night while watching the US Open tennis, I was admiring Andre Agassi's nice round noggin, just 2 short years ago, I was admiring other things on Andre - teehee. Guest guest
, My son Ian was diagnosed with brachacephaly and plagiocephaly. The entire back on his head was flat, causing his head to be wide and tall. In addition to that, his left side was slightly more flatter than the right, causing asymmmetry with his ears off, and his right forehead to buldge. We had to correct him on 2 planes. We are going thru the DOC Band therapy and it's been great. They designed to helmet to a) treat the asymmetry hold his head position at the width so that his head wouldn't get any higher. Ian was banded at 7 months and we have seen wonderful improvement. If you want to see progress shots, check out our webpage. I would also be happy to tell you anything else about our treatment. Ian is now in a 2nd band which was designed a little differently - another holding position (cap) was formed to hold his height. Guest guest
Selena, In is such a cutie. My daughter, , looks very similar to Ian. Her head seems to have a very similar shape to his, but I think her head is perfectly symetrical. Just like Ian, she looks adorable from the front, no facial assymetry. I will scan some pictures and show you. Do you have any recent pictures from the top and/or side of Ian which shows his progress? > , > > Forgot to give you my url: > > http://www.jnsnet.com/ian/plagio/index.html
Guest guest
Hi , We have a brachy baby who has had his helmet for 2 months. We started late (12 mos) but even we have seen significant improvement. He had very prominent points on either side of his head (the wide part at the top) that are now significantly less noticeable. The flat spot at the back is much smaller. The "bump" he had started at the back (at the bottom, near his neck) has popped out much more with the helmet. Before we got the helmet, we used to get the "ohmygod, look at that baby's head!" stares from strangers. Now of course we still get stares because of the helmet, but when I take it off to show people they look at me and wonder what all the fuss is about (ie he looks much more normal). I am very much in favour of the helmet if repositioning has not worked. It has been terrific for us. Good luck.
