Guest guest
Now, you may find a couple or even a few facts askew, but hey at least they're trying to enlighten themselves about us:) and the conditions some of us have. 3 kids project: http://vimeo.com/9510101 1 kid's project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hZAKwEmqcc 1 kid's project that will open up in .pdf format: http://alyson.del-castillo.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/dwarfismppt1.pdf This kid talks very little, I mean itty bitty amount, like a few seconds only and the rest of her project is just diagrams and pics, more or less. It's not bad, it's just the way she did hers. http://www.youtube.com/user/sydneymuller#p/a/u/0/bZhAere4Q5o This one may not been done by a kid, possibly from a grown woman and/or mom? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Todw1GReSAs Here is a kid's project on Primordial Dwarfism that altho it is not a recent one like the rest, it's over a year old now, but it has gotten over 1,500 views and 5 stars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeIsPdiTgyU This last one is a repeat but worth repeating, I feel. It was done by 4 or 5, possibly even 6 kids, but only 2 are featured in news caster type roles. They are Adam the Juice Man and the girl nicknamed, Crying Wolf. I posted this last month and even wrote them on You Tube (privately), and below is my letter to them and their reply follows, which I appreciated receiving from them:). Don't take the coach's initial comments seriously, he's only kidding;). My original letter to them: hi:) I am a dwarf. I have the most common type too, Achondroplasia. I thought I would critique your vid. It was right on and at times bright on-intelligent and informative:), and at others funny which is not bad, and at other times silly.... But hey, that's OK too. The one thing tho, most little people/dwarfs and all doctors, when referring to one of us, rarely use the word, midget. Midget was a term primarily used for those little people who were proportionately small, like the Munchkins from the movie, Wizard of OZ, a few of whom are still living, but today they are known as proportionate dwarfs or hormonal dwarfs. Many of that type are literally are disappearing, because if their dwarfism is hormonal and if caught earlier enough, they can have weekly hormone shots and become average sized, or like you two, by the time they finish their growth. However, even a few of the proportionate dwarfisms can be chromosomal too, one example is 's Syndrome, which affects only girls/women. You are correct, they are over 200 types of dwarfism, some sooo rare that one of them may only encounter another one like themselves at a meeting of all little people. One such example of the rarer ones are the Primordial dwarfs and those with Progeria. Overall, I think you all did well, and I wish you two the best in your channel here and wherever it may take you:). On a side note, I once knew an little person who had a Mohawk and it went down past his shoulders, it was pretty cool:D. Lastly, the little guy your teacher met, actor Dunn, did play Dr. Loveless in the TV show, the Wild Wild West, and that can be seen here: All the best:), grady Their reply: Re: hi:) Thank you for your input and the information you provided me with! The video was made for an Anatomy class when we were discusses diseases and disorders of the endocrine system. Before the project, I nor my partners really knew little of the disorder. Personally, I don't like the word " midget " , most of the time that I hear it used, it carries a derogatory connotation. But I am glad that not only did we receive an A on the project, but that it was fun to do and I've learned a lot from research and from what you told me. Thank you and all the best as well (: *******
