Subject: Exit Casting

Hello All, Just wanted to let you know that is going in for her exit casting tomorrow, please send good vibes our way. I'm quite nervous since she is older now. During the last few adjustments at CT she started getting a little more difficult to work with. She didn't want them touching her head. Question ... does the exit casting take less time since there is not going to be a band made from it? It seems like they wouldn't need to be as careful ... does this make sense?? We just had to make that decision whether to exit cast or not. They basically do it to compare to the first mold made. We decided not to do it as has already done it twice, the results are great, etc. CT does recommend it because if your having problems with your ins., it could be concrete evidence that it worked. Also, they do learn of how much correction was made. They offered to do pictures, although it is not a 3-D version of the head. If my child was younger and not sitting up and getting so mobile, I would probably do it for fear of regression. Like everyone said, it is totally your decision, do what you feel is right.

I was just wondering, I have heard some of you talk about exit casting.

I was not told of this and have no idea what it is or what it is for, Is

this something they do to all the kids after they are done with the

band? I would hate to have to put her through that again. Any knowledge

of this would be appreciated!

Thanks:)

The exit cast is recommended by Cranial Tech once the treatment is

complete. They cast the baby again, and get another head mold to

compare it to the beginning head mold, this is where you can really

see the results of the head. You do not HAVE to have it done, it is

your choice. CT does recommend doing it, especially if your child is

younger and you might worry about the head possibly flattening again

after they have graduated. Again, it's entirely up to you!!! Don't

worry!

Debbie,

Thanks for the info. I hate to put her through that again (or me!) but I

guess that is something that we will decide on when the time comes.

Hi Elena,

I think most CT's offer the exit casting, but it is entirely up to the parent

if you would like to do this process again (its included in the total cost

anyway). Many parents have done the exit mold and are happy they have

something concrete to refer back if regression is a concern, or they just

want proof positive that this process has worked. As my son had

already been through the casting twice (first mold broke in shipping- ok

Debbie, here come the Humpty Dumpty jokes ;)- we decided against a third time

only because we were happy with the results that were so obviously there

already and didn't feel the need to put him through it a third time. Good

luck on your DOC band journey and keep us posted on that graduation date!
