We went to the Beth Israel Cochlear Implant Center on Feb. 10th, and completed the process there. She now has to select the device she wants to use. Also, we just found out - with great disappointment - that there may be a 2-3 month (delay) period of time required to get the insurance approvals for the procedure. Her surgeon is ready, she is ready, but this approval is - obviously - needed since the cost of the operation and equipment could easily be $50-$60,000.00. Since we were neither born rich nor lottery winners, we will just have to wait for this approval to come through. In the meantime, I am installing a Voice Carry Over phone for her and having all our smoke detectors, CO detectors, and burglar alarm converted to visual alert as well as audio alert. How we envy those of the group who have those surgery dates scheduled. As always, god bless all and best wishes for much success in those surgeries and for successful hook-ups thereafter. Mine and my sister were implanted on Halloween day on 2001 and I think we definitely got the biggest treat in the world that year..LOL Wishing you the best.
