Hey -I volunteer, also. I run the Royal Rangers at our church. Its like

scouts. We reach out to boys and help keep them out of trouble. Especialy

ones without a Dad at home, they need a male role model. We do lots of fun

stuff with them like camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, paintball,

speliunking in old mines & caves, plus hundreds of other things.

I love the outdoors, but I have been limited lately by this Hep-C and the

toxic meds. I can't wait to get done with it.

We're actually leaving tonight to go camping & fishing in the White Mts. I

won't be baack until Saturday night.

God bless you,

Bob: I'll bet you are making a difference in the lives of those boys. My

husband's family was dysfunctional as he was growing up (alcoholic mother).

On his own, he joined and participated in Boy Scouts and became an Eagle at

15. That activity provided him a safe respite from what was going on at

home and a place where he could feel good about himself. You're a good

person, Bob. It's probably very satisfying, isn't it? Tree

Hi Jerome,

I am one of those people who is a volunteer. I do volunteer work for

Cochlear and I wear the Nucleus implant. The only reason I do it is because I

have gotten so much benefit from my implant that it has given me my life back! I

lost my hearing very gradually over the course of 27 years and it took away a

lot of joy and replaced it with a lot of stress.

But I am now proud to be called a volunteer because Cochlear does so much

for it's recipients. Cochlear has the best track record for support for it's

implant users and also the best track record for making sure that all of it's

earlier implantees have access to current technology.

I don't get paid to say any of this but after reading several forums for so

many years, I know that I made the right choice for me. I know that volunteers

from another company make a lot of effort to sell " hard " to new people that

come to the forum (off list) and I think that is awful and manipulating. Just be

sure to do your research for yourself and check out all the implant features,

what research the company has done to back up it's claims, and company track

record for keeping it's older users happy and hearing.

Hi there,

I noticed some of you guys have " volunteer " or being early in getting CI

technology, is the risk higher when they are on experimental status?

Is there any other forums beside this groups where you guys hang out so

I can get more info?

I have severe-profound sensorineural hearing loss which is a borderline I

think, and I don't know whether I should pursue for cochlear implant or

stick with hearing aid and wait until something new comes out...

I have a question if you don't mind, do those BTE in cochlear implant sweat

proof? Philippines is a very hot country.

Thanks.
