Guest guest
I am only 3 1/2 weeks out of my first surgery for c-toma removal and things are going as expected. It is too early to say that everything went fine, and I have the anticipated sensations (occasional ear pressure, jaw tightness, and reduced taste on affected side) but diminishing discomfort. I feel like I am on track and using drops every night as instructed. Like you, my doctor's plan for me is another surgery in at least a year for rebuilding hearing structure. But reading the " realities " of so many in this group who have multiple surgeries for c-toma removals is discouraging, and, like you, I believe I have a great ear doctor, but now I wonder if that matters in the long run? Of course having a competent, skilled and experienced doctor is better than the opposite, but this condition is so insidious and persistent that I wonder if there are some success stories that anyone can share with us. Sure would be nice to read something positive. On that note, on the eve of Thanksgiving, I do feel thankful for my support: family, friends, doctor and staff, and this group. But two weeks ago I went for a follow-up appointment (10 months after my last surgery) and that night my ear started bothering me. It makes static noises every time there's a loud noise or a noise directly by my ear. I called him and he prescribed antibiotics (oral and drops!) over the phone, but nothing is getting better. > > It's just a very strange situation, I think. Too much of a coincidence. Plus the noise is extremely annoying. > > I don't know guys, I just thought I was done with all this annoying ear stuff. Thanks for listening (reading). >
