Guest guest
Hello, I know what you mean about being scared...I was with my husband and was still scared, but I soon found out I had no reason to be scared...You will be safe with Earnesto and they will treat you like a queen...I know it's scary but please don't let that stop you...You have nothing to be afraid of by going...They are the best!!!!! I'm sure there will be some bandsters who went alone reply to you too...But I want you to know if I knew now what I knew then I wouldn't be scared to go alone...It's nice to have someone with you to help you...But if you don't have anyone then by all means go alone...Can you ask a friend, sister, brother anyone???? Good luck and just so you know you won't regret getting the band...I got mine this past Sept. and I'm down 38lbs... ttyl, Rena lrrkrk <lrrkrk@...> wrote: I would like to book my surgery for Feb. 14th, however I can't find anyone to go with me. Guest guest
Hey there! You are never really a'one'. You get picked up right as you are leaving the luggage area. Then they take you to the hospital for your tests and then over to the hotel. The next morning they pick you up at the hotel and take you over for surgery. So the only time alone is on the flight and in the hotel and if someone else is going you will get a chance to know them on the ride from the airport and can hopefully eat with them. I never went out so I dont know about crime. If you have a friend to take with you- I would but dont be afraid of going alone. Once you get picked up there will be others with you about 90% of the time. > > I would like to book my surgery for Feb. 14th, however I can't find > anyone to go with me. Guest guest
//Would someone (who went alone for surgery) please let me know how it was. // I went alone and would do it again if I had to. I was nervous too but once you arrive and Ernesto picks you up at the airport, you are NEVER alone (except in your hospital room). After surgery I just wanted to sleep and relax. There was someone there with her husband and he got so bored he left and stayed at the hotel most of the time. I am so glad my husband did not go. He would have been trying to talk to me and ask me how I was doing. He would have tried to be nice but I know I would have been annoyed by his kindness. You will meet so many other bandsters (who don't post but do read the board) there having surgery the same day as you or the day before/after you. You will have much more time to spend with your new friends if you are not trying to keep your traveling companion occupied. //Is it safe?// Absolutely! Again at NO time was I ever alone except in my hospital room 7/18/05 280/180/
Guest guest
>I went by myself and it was a piece of cake. You will nap a lot and when you are not napping you will take a few laps around the Alameter Hospital. Then you will be ready to sleep again. I brought a portable DVD player and used it some but mostly on the plane. Travel light and take only what you need -- jammies, comfortable travelling clothes, robe, slippers, Gas-X strips etc. (there are tons of posts onwhat to bring). I met the two other bandsters and both they and their husbands were very supportive and helpful to me even though we'd only just met. One even let me use his cell phone to call my kids since I wasn't getting service in the hospital. You will be fine. Your hubby would be bored to tears. You will get more rest if you " fly solo " . Guest guest
I wish I would have went alone. My husband and another couple came down with me. Everyone was scared for my life...What a joke. I felt like I needed to entertain them and I just wanted peace and quiet. Plus they are all PICKY EATERS....So they would cross over the border everytime they got hungry. Then they would complain , complain, complain. They were all worse than my kids!!! I ended up leaving the day after surgery because they were all driving me NUTS!!!! Everything will be fine. You are totally safe. ---- rena brown <rena71857@...> wrote: > Hello, I know what you mean about being scared...I was with my husband and was still scared, but I soon found out I had no reason to be scared...You will be safe with Earnesto and they will treat you like a queen...I know it's scary but please don't let that stop you...You have nothing to be afraid of by going...They are the best!!!!! > > Good luck and just so you know you won't regret getting the band...I got mine this past Sept. and I'm down 38lbs... > > ttyl, Rena > > > > lrrkrk <lrrkrk@...> wrote: > I would like to book my surgery for Feb. 14th, however I can't find > anyone to go with me. Guest guest
Hello, I would also like to book my surgery for Feb. 14th, however am still waiting for my funds in the mail before I can schedule. I am in the Seattle area but I would most likely be traveling alone, also. So we can support eachother before and after. I'll keep you posted if that is the day I actually go on. Guest guest
I was planning on going alone and the same thing, my husband was freaked out. He said he would never have let me go alone, but it was truely not a big deal. I ended up with a friend that said she would come with me. We traveled at seperate times to San Deigo, my sister lives there so I went to visit her and her new baby, then my friend and I met at the airport on a Thursday. Ernesto picked us up and we traveled together from there on. The advantage to having a friend with me... she loved to read as much as I did, so we both read A LOT. She was NOT picky she was truely there to help me with whatever I needed. If I needed something out of my suitecase I could ask her and she would jump to it. We laughed A LOT. When ever something stressful was going on we laughed, whenever something was funny we laughed, when she wanted a can of coke and the nurses told us not to cross the street to get it we laughed I don't think the trip would have gone as well with my husband along. So all that being said, I certainly did NOT need anyone with me. There was never anything that I needed someone else to do for me. It was just fun to travel with my best friend. Our joke was that we couldn't believe this was the first time we were traveling together and we weren't going to go it on a beach, we were going to Mexico to get me cut open LOL Take care and good luck with your decision.
