,

How about pinworms? I don't know much about it except my sister and I both

had that problem when we were about 8 or 9. I don't remember it making us

feel like we had to urinate, but it did cause itching!!!! I'm not even sure

what caused it!

Let us know what you find out!

Hello all!

Well, I called the pediatrician about my daughter and looked on the

parenting websites, but I don't know if she has a UTI or not!!!

(Urinary Tract Infection) Here's what's been going on. She has

mentioned that it feels " wierd " down there, it itches sometimes, and

she feels like she has to go sometimes when she doesnt really need to

go. She has mentioned this on and off for the last week or so. (She

is almost 6) When I called the Dr. today they asked me if her urine

was dark in color (No) If it has a foul odor (No, but will try to

check for that again to make sure) and if she has had pain when she

urinates. She is not in pain or I would know it (she is Miss Drama

Queen when it comes to pain!)

Anybody have any other ideas what this might be? She doesnt have a

fever and is not sick, so I dont really think it's an infection, but

I don't want to blow it off just in case it is something that needs

to be taken care of. Anything else I should be looking for? I would

appreciate anyone's help on this. Thanks!!!!

Sorry, ! I don't really know what it could be.

Maybe try examining the area closely (I know that can be a bit uncomfortable for both of you, but...), there could be a small hair or lint or something irritating her, making her think she has to go. Something foreign would certainly itch too.

Hope you find a solution for her soon! Let us know!

It sounds like a UTI to me -- it's a simple test to find out, I think peeing in a cup or something. Her "feeling weird" might be the discomfort that the doctor is talking about. I've had uti's before, and that feeling of having to pee and then nothing comes out -- that's a sure sign.

Good luck!

,

My girlfriends daughter who is 2 1/2 had similar symptoms to what you are

describing and the doctor diagnosed a yeast infection. I was surprised but

I guess its pretty common.

, Has she been taking bubble baths? I know my 6 yr old can't use the bubbles because it makes her very irritated. Just a thought. Belinda(Indiana)

- UTI's can be asymptomatic so don't let the other non symptoms turn you away from the ruling out the UTI- could also be a yeast infection but I would be willing to bet it is a uti. See if you can get her to pee in a cup and then take a better look at it in the meantime give her cranberry juice and lots of water to flush it out. Let us know.
