Guest guest
Hi girls! I just wanted to thank you all for the wonderful replies I got when I posted about " going for it " . I'm pretty darn excited...not just about losing excess weight (I don't have a WHOLE lot to lose...), but more for the preventive measures. The thought of becoming MO again horrifies me to no end. the *maintenance " part of it... lifelong, This is unlike any other WLS I have ever read about because of the adjustability factor. Having had the bypass 11 yrs ago, there's NOTHING that can be done to to compensate for the body's adjustment (i.e.- stretched pouch, re-growth of intestines, enlarged stoma), and trust me, the body DOES adjust. In fact I have a hard time finding others online who have had the bypass 10+ yrs ago, probably because of re-gain and many feel shame...it feels like the *ultimate* failure and is very painful. Does anyone have stats on success of long-term band patients? I haven't really checked it out throughly... but I would imagine if you can get fills throughout your life, unless you slurp down ice cream and milkshakes constantly, if you're basically eating good solid food, how can re-gain happen?
