Do Not Call list

Subject: FW: Do Not Call list

Very sneaky.

This is a valid warning. See http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/pending/callscam.asp

DO NOT CALL LIST This is to all of you that signed up for the " do not call " law.

This week I received a card in the mail that looked alright-- It said " vote for

your favorite cola - Pepsi or Coke- and receive a complementary 12 pack " It

didn't look suspicious--but for some reason I kept looking at it. THEN I FOUND

IT !! At the bottom of the card there is a VERY small statement. It is SO small

it is hard to read--but here is what it says----

" By completing this form, you agree that sponsors and co-sponsors of this offer

may telephone you , even if your number is found on a do not call registry or

list " This REALLY upset me and I just wanted all my friends to be aware of this

way to get around the " do not call " law !! Just think how many people will send

this in and their do not call registry will be NO GOOD !!

The company's name is MARKET SOLUTION. Please send this to all your friends that

signed up for " do not call " . I think this is just one of what we will get in

the future--so READ EVERYTHING before you SIGN AND SEND !! AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS

ABOUT IT!

Hmmm, I went to this website and it doesn't look legit to me. I think I'll

hold off on registering. Looks to me like it could be a phishing scam to get

cell numbers perhaps? I'll wait and see.

I will sign up. However, just remember that you won't waste any minutes if

you don't answer your cell. If I get calls and it's not from a number in my

phonebook, or a number I recognize, I just don't answer it. If it's someone

who does know me and needs to speak with me, they just leave a voice mail,

which is free with my plan.

How true this is I dont know but for ones with cell phones it might be

worth checking into.

Hi All, this is TRUE, I just checked it with Urban Legends which gives

added info: (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/pending/donotcall.asp).

A directory of cell phone numbers will be published soon. This opens

the

door to solicitors calling our cell phones using up our minutes. The

Federal Trade Commission has set up a do not call list. You must call

FROM

the number you wish to register. The number is 1-888-382-1222, OR you

can

click on the link below to register your cell phones on line.

Hi All,

A few months back people were told to sign up for a Do Not Call list,

and any company that did telemarketing without checking would be fined

and so forth. Cut way down on the telemarketers, too. But lately, I've

noticed " They're BACKKKK " So when someone calls and starts a sales

pitch, I ask if they have checked the " do not call " registry, and to take

my name off. So much for the effectiveness of that.

I did sign up for the landline do not call list when it first was

available, and haven't had a telemarketer since. Works great! But

I'm still not trusting of this new one yet for cell phones, as I've

only heard that it is coming, and have not yet read that it's

available to sign up for. Plus, the website that was shown does not

appear to have any government-type of identification. As I said

earlier, I just don't answer cell calls where I don't recognize the

number, or no number is shown on my screen. People who need to get

in touch with me have my home number, work number, emails, etc.

Hope if this cell don't call list becomes a reality, it includes

unsolicited text messages. All those annoying things do is waste my

battery!
