Guest guest
This is the downside of being on digest. We leave trimming (or not) up to the individual; I know that I usually leave most or all of the thread because I think it's relevant (I always snip 's junk, though). Your plea is noted; it's up to the members as individuals to take pity. Trimming Posts I am just a member here....but as a list owner of over 10 groups, may I respectfully request that members please TRIM YOUR POSTS? I am on digest, and you wouldn't believe the MUCK I have to swim through to find the actual posts! I love the information I get here, and I love the people.....I just don't understand why some members don't take the extra few seconds to only include a few lines of the previous post and erase the rest. There's a few groups I'm on that have this problem, despite the list owner frequently requesting that members trim their replies to posts. Just like it's more considerate not to litter on the highway, please don't litter your posts. Thank you, I feel better now.....

Beverly Texas " I own and moderate 4 and it is not a something my members have to do. I figure it is up to each person whether they are on individual messages or the digest. They each have there own benefits. Asking everyone to trim posts for the people that chose digest would be like asking everyone to not post so many messages for those on individual messages. Each person makes up their own mind how they want to receive messages and has to deal with how it works. Guest guest
Thanks for the recap, Beverly--it pretty much sums up the basis for our "non-policy." Guest guest
Thank you, Pete! I SO agree with you. I'm on digest, too. I even tried getting single messages on another group, but it did not help! It's just as bad by single messages! So, please, people, TRIM! Guest guest
I actually like the untrimmed post... I can read pretty much the whole subject with the latest post. Using digest is just a pain in the butt for me. Guest guest
As the list owner, I agonize over stuff like this. However, as a libertarian, I tend to chafe at "rules and regulations" - I'm on MANY, MANY email lists. Some where the list owner constantly harps on "trimming posts", and others (surprisingly my busiest list) where no one has ever mentioned trimming posts and no one ever does. I decide how important a list is to me and if I want to get daily e-mails I set up a separate e-mail folder, if I don't feel like I need to see every e-mail, I set my subscription to web-only. Daily digest has NEVER worked for me. When I am skimming my huge, busy list, I just look for subject lines that interest me and delete the rest before ever opening them. Also, frequently I dislike it when someone DOES trim. On certain topics, I want to read the history of how the e-mail evolved and who said what and in what order. There is no way that I can please everyone on this topic. This is an excerpt from my website on my "Vitamix User's Support Group" page: A suggestion... at times this can be a busy e-mail list. It might be helpful to set up a separate e-mail folder so that the messages don't clog up your Inbox with all of those helpful recipes and ideas! You should be able to find instructions on how to set up an e-mail folder for the e-mail program that you use here: how to set up an e-mail folder Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL321-773-7088 (home)321-961-9219 (cell)www.VitamixLady.comwww..com 13:35 <)))>< Trimming Posts Date: Monday, August 23, 2010, 7:13 PM I am just a member here....but as a list owner of over 10 groups, may I respectfully request that members please TRIM YOUR POSTS? Guest guest
Please everyone, trim the quotes in the original post to which you are responding. It's very difficult to find the new replies if they're buried either in the middle of the quotes, or at the very end. Thanks much!
Guest guest
Wait is that a rule for this forum?? Because sometimes I don't get all the messages and I personally prefer being able to read through the posts. Especially ones that are being answered weeks after they were first posted.
