I noticed after surgery that if you wait too long before you take a pain med, it’s much harder to get on top of the pain, so I would suggest you make sure to take them for the first couple of days. Guest guest Posted August 4, 2010 Report Share Posted August 4, 2010 For my surgeries, I often went back after a week but took it slow for that first week back. If you make yourself get up and move around a bit during your first week of recovery, it will be less exhausting when you do get back to work. That first week back at work was always a bit of a challenge for me because after being in bed for a week, I would have less energy than normal.
