Guest guest
Hi Charlynn, This is my experience with fills: Follow Dr. Aceves's advice and stay on liquids (full) for a few days after your fill and then ease into a regular diet again. I just had my 2nd fill on Friday and the Dr. said go straight to regular food. I tried it and PBed majorly! I am now doing liquids needless to say! This fill has made me feel quite tight and I have been losing again after staying the same for over a month! Best wishes, Penny > > Hi everyone, > I am going for my first fill tomorrow is there any thing special I need to do??? I am starting to see the scale move again I had a couple weeks of just the same numbers, it was frustrating. I had also started a serious exercising schedule. so I am wanting to believe its because of the muscle I'm building. I was still noticing that the clothes were still getting loser. I want to welcome my sister-in-law and her momma Becky to the loosing side they had their surgery 1-26-06. you wont regret it for a minute (especially this summer when we are all hot and slim in our suits on our camping trip) Love Ya Guys!! > > > Charlynn Snoke > 236/209/155 > Lapband 11/10/06 >
Guest guest
You know, Setje, we all want the weight to come off and come off quickly! But, that isn't necessarily the healthiest way. Yes, some people lose more than others for a viariety of reasons...body type, amount of original weight, etc. Once you get your first fill you will have to learn, all over again, how to eat in order to survive with your band. You don't really want an aggressive fill...especially for the first one because you honestly don't have an idea of how to live with a lapband yet....that generally comes after having a fill. It isn't surprising that you are able to eat a great deal right now since you haven't had a fill yet. Remember, this is sort of like having new tires put on your car but not having any air in them. Yes, the tires are there but they aren't doing much good without air. Once you put air in them, you can drive with no problem. Same with your band. Your band isn't fully operational until you get your fill...then, it fully works. Make sense? Anyway, trust what Dr. Campos does...he has done quite a number of fills and knows what is best. One more thing....and this comes from someone who has basically reached goal and has been on this journey for a long time. I have learned many things along this journey and maybe I should pass one of these things on to you at this point. You are going on a cruise, right? What is one of the things that people look forward to on a crusie? Eating all the delicious foods, right? Well, then your want for this food is NORMAL. You cannot expect to go on a cruise and not enjoy the food! You have to allow yourself to eat on this crusie just as NORMAL people do. NORMAL people eat on cruises! That is the biggest thing we all have to learn to do...eat as normal people. Now, how do we do that? Make rules for yourself that are reasonable...allow yourself ONE dessert each day (if your newly filled band will even allow that). Don't worry if you eat ice cream during the day....just limit it. Still focus on trying to eat your protein first and that will take some hunger away. Maybe don't go to the buffett...that may be too tempting. Set boundaries for yourself that are reasonable and would be more like what normal people would do. Don't make yourself miserable by worrying about what you ate that you shouldn't have. When you do eat something that you know you shouldn't, get back in line at the next meal. Don't skip meals (unless your band demands it). Not a single one of us became obese by ONE instance of binge eating...it was the behavior after that binge that did us in. We would starve ourselves in the name of a diet rather than simply getting back on track at the very next meal. In doing this, we couldn't make it very long before we were on another binge. Normal people don't binge constantly but they do have certain, special occasions when they eat more than they should. Good luck and don't rush it. Enjoy the excietment of losing and the anticipation of your new life ahead. If you gain a pound or two on your cruise, you will get that back off...it won't be the end of the world! Keep us posted on your fill and then enjoy your cruise! Jenni DOB 2/23/06 247/146/145 4 fills 2 fills Temporarily Portless
Guest guest
Well it took me a while, but I took the time to get back to Mexicali to have my first fill done; 1.7cc in a 4 cc band, and feeling great. Yeah it was a pain time wise (more than a day down, and a day back for a 15 min session with Dr Campos & crew), but the confidence I gained in having a band expert check me out, and give me a fill using his experienced eyeballs (via Fluro) on the final restriction was worth the hassle, to me. And of course EVERYBODY is so incredibly nice & welcoming, it's more like visiting friends than going to a doctor. Also got to meet some true success stories, and the next round of newbies headed in for their own surgeries, wondering just like I did as they arrive - Do I REALLY want to do this? Looking forward to hearing their tales (did Ben survive Jo's op, and get to go diving?) Flew on points, but did use two hotels, a healthy parking fee, fuel for the truck and a (very)small food bill - probably about $350, plus another $77 for fluro in Mexicali - so say $450 overall for the fill, and of course a couple days time. Would be nice to get that down, but after watching the process, and reading/hearing the issues that an unskilled practiciner can create poking around blind, there is no way I'll do a fill without a band trained filler and fluro. See it wasn't as bad as you thought it was going to be, and just think in a year you wil be glad he went through with getting the band. Take care of yourself and keep us posted. I have lost 5 more pounds since my fill. Just remember the first 30 days will be very hard so stay focused and do everything you are suppose to do. Stick with the post-op diet.
