Guest guest
Unfortunately this is one of the down sides of this surgery. Sorry I can't help you. A good spray helps. In fact they have and oust spray you can carry with you. Here is the web site. _Oust® Mini Air Sanitizer - Travel Size Other Products - New Products Products_ (http://www.minimus.biz/detail.aspx?ID=7772) Hugs, Dr. Rutledge 5/17/06 246/238/205.5/140 high/surgery/today/goal 34 minutes/6 ft. by-pass

Guest guest
I can highly recommend that you go to Citracel tablets and Devrom capsules. Devrom is and internal deoderant for people with colostomies, etc. We have to stay with citracel, but the tablets are much better for some of us than the powder. I buy the Devrom online. It is a lifesaver. Good luck to you. Deborah On Jul 28, 2006, at 4:43 PM, jwinters1977 wrote: > I'm approximately 5 years post op. Guest guest
Hi, I'm a little over one year out MGB. I started with gas and bm issues at about 3 months out. I currently use Devrom capsules, 200 mg, 3-4 before meals...works wonders. You can order online...no script needed. p.s. Devron is not sublingual Jon jwinters1977 <julietwinters@...> wrote: I'm approximately 5 years post op. I have had ongoing problems with smelly bowel movements and smelly gas. Guest guest
Jen Dr Rutledge told me I could use the Citrucel pills I take 2 or 3 a day. We do need our fiber. But I don't think that citurcell will actually help with smells and such. I have heard others say that when they eat some veggies like brocolli etc and also sugary foods that causes the smells and the excess gas. For me its popcorn. I can't eat popcorn without getting painful smelly gas. Cheri 299/227 10/26/05 Dr R -- Gas & Smelly Bowel movements Sublingual Meds? I'm approximately 5 years post op. Guest guest
Is this Jen of Jen and Cat fame? If so please let us know how you are doing, and Cat too. There is a deodorizer, Devrom that you can take at meals that is supposed to help. I am not sure if it works. Some say yes, others say no, but that might be one idea. I think, for me, most gas is dependent upon what I eat. Guest guest
No it doesn't go away. It gets worse as you add food. You will have to watch and see what type of food triggers the smell or the gas. It is probably one of the downsides of this surgery. Our food doesn't digest the way it use to and doesn't stay in our bodies like before. Sooooooooooo the result is only partially digest food comes out and low and behold the smell. Pleasant subject. Hope this helps. I do now veggies and high sugar and fat can cause some of this. We must keep our food as " clean " as possible. Guest guest
At almost 6 years out I find that when I have more than a " normal " amount of gas it is tied to what I ate ... and the same with the odor. Over abundance of salad and " roughage " ... gas. Sugar and high fat foods .... smell. If I eat " clean " I don't have much of a problem. Try watching what you eat for a few days or a week and see if you can tie odors and gas pains to certain foods. It is worth a shot. And, like everyone else has said, Citrucel is for life .. not to be " substituted " for something else... at least that is the recommendation. We of course are always free to make our own choices. in GA > > I'm approximately 5 years post op. I have had ongoing problems with > smelly bowel movements and smelly gas. Guest guest
I have had this since my first year. I think it lasted this long because I have not been consistantly using fiber. I have been so focused on my job and family that I have no energy left. I'm not working now so I'm trying to make better choices and have a plan so that I can use it longterm.
