Guest guest
, I started to tilt over after the surgery to S1. There is no hardware since the fusion was only that last disc. He wanted to do whatever he needed to do to make it straight but the surgery had been too long. The surgeon was Tozzi out of Washington, D.C. The surgery removed the little Harrington clip that replaced the 14 inch rod taken out 5 years prior when l4/5 failed to fuse. The original rod became displaced from the hook at the top. The original surgery had been done in 81 at s Hopkins with Vernon Tolo. The rod remained loose for 8 months because Hopkins never xrayed from the side. Finally, the rod started to poke through at the bottom. I am very hunched over and thge shoulders and knees have also suffered. Any advice? Guest guest
Hi MsCello... I'm not quite sure I understand your history, but it sounds to me like you might (still) have a non-fusion somewhere. Any chance you could see Kostuik? He seems to be the most likely candidate for you to discover what's really going on. Regards,

Guest guest
Regarding the message posted by Gordon J. Ward-I am very new to this list as I had just recently heard about the list and have been trying to be very patient with the messages that have been posted. I must admit many of them have really turned me off, as I am here to learn all I can about HBO-not to read where everyone seems to want to argue with each other about just about anything. I was VERY offended by the post by Mr. Ward in response to Hartsoe's message regarding openings at his facility. I saw that message from Mr. Hartsoe as a compassionate message to let us all know there were openings, as I know many have to wait and wait to get the treatments. I saw NO advertising or even promoting his facility in his message. I only wish those of you who do NOT have a brain injured or handicapped child would try to realize what we caregivers and parents of those who NEED these treatments have to endure and just MAYBE you could also be more sympathetic for our situations and hardships along our way. I for one applaud and compliment Mr. Hartsoe for POSTING that message, and I sent it on to others who I KNOW are waiting to get in HBO facilities. I saw Mr. Gordon's message more of an advertisement by far than Mr. Hartsoe. PLEASE use this list in a way that we caregivers and parents can be comfortable being associated with you and help us in our frustrations and pain. Thank you. Furthermore, some argue that oil and incense use is a tiny part of the use of sandalwood, for example, which is in far greater danger from use for funerals. I am not an expert nor do I claim to be, so I would like to hear both sides. I hope you will send it again, Tony, and the discussion continues. Are you advocating a consumer boycott of all products that use sandalwood or agarwood? The discussion so far seems very civil to me and as long as it stays that way, I feel it's interesting. Guest guest
Hi Janine, Its absolutely true that for those families that can afford it in India, their deceased loved ones can be burned over a sandalwood pyre. I have observed this by the side of the Ganges, although it is too macabre for me. The ratio of ordinary cremations to sandalwood cremations seemed very high to me, although of course large weights of wood are piled for this purpose. If nobody else volunteers figures for this I'll see if I can find some. And of course sandalwood for construction and carving of fine boxes, trinkets, statues etc continues unabated. Perhaps there will be estimates of figures for this published too. However I do not think that the amount of wood used to prepare Sandalwood oil was inconsequential. What isn't generally known is that solvent extraction and co-distillation are used to get the last vestiges of oil out of the pores in the wood structure - even after steam distillation a lot of the higher quality components - including the santalols - are still held there. My new forthcoming update on Sandalwood talks more about Spike disease which is difficult to eradicate and is treated by " antibiotic " substances. I suppose it is ironic to think that some of the sandalwood products making the rounds probably contain the very synthetics, that many in this genre of interested folks here, absolutely abhor. Yes I am asking people to examine their attitudes to sandalwood and aloeswood. I freely admit that I have learned a lot, even in the past few months, about what goes on. But then life's a learning process! Guest guest
Dear Lorrie, Were you the one who had BC/BS with Dr. Boachie? I am thinking of seeing him & Lenke if possible - someday. Dear All, Does anyone else have extreme trouble with being cold? What I mean is when the room feels "chilly", I end up hudlled in blankets, near tears for some time. My back/hips/butt/legs hurt worse thatn usual. but I also hurt in my joints as well. I end up gettin really, really tensed up & go into spasm pretty bad. This time of the year, it is getting worse & I fear I may lose even more mobility/freedom as it seems worse this year than before. My PT told me to avoid getting cold, unless I LIKED being in major spasms. I wear LS shirts & pants most of the time. I am looking for a way to stay warm enough to avoid being stuck in a "huddle" on the couch. Blessings, Carla Kay Ps. 96:1,3, & 4a Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise...
Guest guest
I used to have a lot more pain when I was cold. When I was young, I would start to shiver if the temperature dropped below 80. Shivering would make my muscles tense up, and then I would hurt -- and this was before I started having pain on a daily basis. Living in the Bahamas cured me from being cold. It was always hot and I sweated buckets (to the point of being hospitalized for dehydration a couple of times), so I grew to appreciate colder weather. Now that menopause has hit, I no longer own any long sleeves and rarely feel cold. > > Dear Lorrie, > > Were you the one who had BC/BS with Dr. Boachie? Guest guest
Yes - I have BC/BS - a PPO - so they reimburse 70% of what they think is reasonable after a $400 deductible.
