Guest guest
, What you have expressed about your fears regarding the testing are very normal. Most of the time, we don't realize how much sound we are missing and as you know, many times we are in denial as well. Do you know what your audiogram reads now? From the sounds of your post regarding the sounds of the zoo, I would guess that you are very likely a candidate. I can't express to you the great joy this device brings and if you have someone at 's Hopkins you can see, I wouldn't put it off. This is just potentially depriving yourself of something that will give you back quality of life. I hope that I read a message from you soon that you have an appointment. Now.. regarding being part of the " CI family. " You are certainly a member of this family because you are dealing with hearing loss. You can feel comfortable posting anytime, because we certainly understand where you are and we are here to support you. I will be very surprised if you don't get many messages from members of this group because we don't just support CI users. We support and care about anyone dealing with hearing loss. I'm glad you came forward and posted. I knew you had joined the group so I assumed you were considering a CI. Anyone just learning and interested is always welcome to post. Alice I am to have my hearing tested again in September, but have been encouraged by Terry to see a friend of his that also does CI's at Hopkins. Part of me worries........... not for any other reason other than I might be told I don't qualify yet. It would be terrible to have a significant hearing loss, and are told you aren't deaf " enough " for a CI. I'm worried about how that will hurt me! Smile! I'm ready for a CI " yesterday " .
