Activation-Bilateral

Hello all

I am sorry for not emailing the day I got activated on Monday, June 9.

Anyway, I was activated and the sounds are very screechy and sounds like Mickey

Mouse on my newly implanted ear. I have not been feeling so well since it has

been making me drowsy since my brain has to adjust with this new implanted ear.

I am hearing things but don't like the sound of it like my other ear. I

called my audie about it and she said it takes time. It is the stimulation.

Everyone reacts differently. I will be going back for mapping next Tuesday and

hopefully I will like the sound better. I am trying not to be discouraged at

this point. It will get better as the days go by.

Thank you for understanding and I will post it again later to see if I am

feeling better.

,

I hope you are feeling better very soon. When my

right side was activated, the sound was identical to

the first hook up. I commented on that when I posted

stating the surprise this was to me. It does pass

though and much faster than the first one.

Something to keep in mind - turn both implants down

because there is so much more sound to process. Maybe

your T's and C's need adjusting.

Did you come home with a couple of different maps to

try over the one week period on your/or a loaner BWP?
