Guest guest
Our daughter had a couple of sets of tubes at roughly 1 & again at 4. At the age of 61/2 her Dr. discovered that the right ear didn't close after the tube. He scheduled what was to be a simple surgery to graph that opening, in the waiting room for what seemed like forever the nurse calls us to tell us that he was still working on removing this tumor!! I just about died. I hadn't heard of this before that point. After a visit with him, he described to us what he saw and the shock he felt when he found it, he then referred us to a specialist about 4 hours away. Needless to say that graph didn't heal and within six months we were having another surgery. The Cholesteatoma was back~ The outcome of that surgery was much the same, no healing of the graph to close the ear drum. In the mean time we have removed adnoids, then later tonsils hoping relieving allergies would help in the healing. Another surgery about 9 months ago wasn't successful in closing the drum, but on a positive note there wasn't any sign of C. They are wanting to try another approach in a couple weeks, as a mom I am apprehensive due to the fact that the others hadn't been a success????
