Guest guest
Hello Deb: I can only say that it has been the best money I have ever spent on myself. I am worth it. I cant speak to getting fills in the states as I went to Dr A for mine and plan to continue when I need them. He is only a 4 hour drive for me. You will have all the fears that we all did about going to Mexico for surgery. My wife thought I was nuts, but by the time we left Mexico my wife was telling her mother to come to Dr A if she decides to have the procedure. I truley believe that if I had to do it over with insurance offering to pay to have it done in the US or me having to pay to go back to Dr A if would most likely go back to Dr A. Guest guest
Debz, I am only 6 days out but can already tell you this was the best decision I have made regarding my weight loss. The pain was far, far less than what I experienced with c-sections. The only pain I am currently in is one spot in the center of my belly. It does not hurt while sitting, but if I twist or stretch. The Mexico experience far exceeded my expectations. My family has had several hospitalizations stateside and the care given to me in Mexico was far superior to anything I/we have received in the states. For the first time I was a person not just a number. Post op diet is boring and not real satifying. It is worth it. I am down 11lbs as of this morning. Feel free to email me w/ any questions. bsajzkirby@... Best of luck to you, dob 9/28/06 306/295/????
Guest guest
Dear Debz, Obviously, you are the only one who can decide if the lapband procedure is the right method for you to treat your obesity. Joining this group, and getting information is a wonderful way for you to start to make an educated and informed decision. I can't speak for everyone, ( which is really unfortunate, because most days I would LOVE to be in charge of the world) but most of us here have been in your shoes- multiple diets, multiple weight losses with even more weight gained back afterwards, frustration, health issues such as diabetes, sleep apnea- name a system of the body and chances are, it is negatively impacted by obesity. And in spite of the National Institute of Health's recommendations for the treatment of morbid obesity with and/or without comorbid medical conditions, MOST health insurance plans continue to decrease their coverage of bariatric surgical procedures.SO, many of us have also had to pay privately in order to have this procedure done. Personally? I think it was worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Keep researching, read the messages here, and keep asking questions. As far as aftercare goes, there is a listing here of the known fill doctors in the states who will treat patient's banded in Mexico- your access to them will depend on where you live. The only regret that I have about being banded was that I waited until a few months ago to have it done. I hate to think about all of the years that my life was negatively impacted by my weight, that could have been different. So instead, I'm just making sure to enjoy life NOW. Best wishes in your decision, > > I am considering having the lapband surgery. I am 5'2 " and weigh 230 > lbs. I have been on every diet in the book and cannot lose the wieght > and keep it off. Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am trying to make up my mind to have the lapband; I need to know the pros and cons of going to Mexico vs staying in the US. Can anyone give a little advice.
Guest guest
Hi, I was banded five days ago. The pros with going to Mexico are the medical care is superb, hospital is modern and clean, price of band is much less expensive. The only con is traveling to get there. Sorta of a hassle to get there and back. Good luck with your decision making on this. yolanda_maloney <yolanda_maloney@...> wrote: Hello everyone, I am trying to make up my mind to have the lapband; I need to know the pros and cons of going to Mexico vs staying in the US.Can anyone give a little advice.
