Guest guest
I am new to the group. I am trying to decide between gastric bypass or a lap band, and a doctor. Does anyone have any ideas on what to consider in these decisions? I have to lose weight because I am too fat. I am leaning to the Lap band but gastric bypass is faster. What do you think? I can't decide between doctors. I was thinking about Dr. Hucuz, Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Aceves, and I can't remember the other names. How do you decide on a doctor? TIA Pip
Guest guest
Seeing as how you're on a Dr. Aceves board, there is no question who just about everyone will recommend. I, like you, have not had the surgery. Aside from wanting to have children in the future, the reason I decided on Lapband is because I am hearing more and more about people who had the gastric bypass surgery gaining weight and then getting the Lapband anyway. Seems like a complete waste of money and time to me. Lapband seems to be more of a lifetime solution, whereas more and more people who have had gastric bypass seem to be gaining weight back several years post-op.pippippypip <pippippypip@...> wrote: I am new to the group. Guest guest
Well, I would lean toward the lapband, its alot safer and less side effects. I was banded 06/07/07 and so far lost 16 lbs, I could be losing more, but its hard to watch what I eat, I do try very hard and its upto you. I went to Dr. Aceves he is a GREAT DR.!!!pippippypip <pippippypip@...> wrote: I am new to the group. Guest guest
Do you only want to lose FAST? or lose permanently and learn to manage a new way of life? No one can advise you on such a personal decision. As for which doctor to pick, please research each and every one, as well as all their credentials, the facility they use, they aftercare they provide and all the other intangible things that make up a thoughtful decision. If you don't want to do the investigating... you probably aren't a good candidate for ANY weight loss surgery! pippippypip <pippippypip@...> wrote: I am new to the group. Guest guest
I think I'll probably have a Lap Band but I don't know how to choose a doctor in Mexico. I can't afford the doctors in my state. Guest guest
Since you have not had the operation yet will you be having Dr. Aceves do your surgery? When? How did you hear about him? How will you decide what dr. to use? --- Handford <birdyboozer@...> wrote: > Seeing as how you're on a Dr. Aceves board, there is > no question who just about everyone will recommend. > I, like you, have not had the surgery. Guest guest
Pippy, My LapBand Surgery is scheduled for 9/14/07 and Dr. Aceves is my selected surgeon after doing a ton of research. If you go through and READ the archives you'll see the reasons why. There isn't one complaint, and there's alot of great information about the facility (hospital not a clinic) and his aftercare. The internet is a great tool for researching the procedure, the facility, the surgeon, airfares etc. (Thank goodness for Expedia.com where I can research airfares to my heart's content!)
