Alice...I just sent you the link privately because I can't get to on the

site....the HiFocus has " soft forward bending properties " and is gently curved.

The only company using a straight array is Med EL as far as I know.

Jerome...They are not the same electrode. The HiFocus has some different

features. I think it is interesting the same man lead the design teams for both

the Nucleus and Clarion. He did the Nucleus earlier and then apparently made

some changes in the electrode design for the Clarions. I know I am grateful

for his great intellect and vision!

I have looked thru all the information I have from AB as we share all implant

information at our SHHH meetings. I cannot find anything that indicates a

precurled array. What I did find is that the 90K uses a straight 1/2 banded

electrode and it seems that the array that is now in use is the same that was

used with the positioner. The positioner that is no longer in use was used to

bring the array closer to the inner wall and up against the modiolus, but

without it, the array would rest on the outer wall.

Can you find that link that you mentioned? It didn't appear in your message.

I'd love to read the information if it is more current than what I received from

AB.

Thanks!

I checked the picture of the brochure I received from Advance Bionics, it

has some curl, but the curl is not the same as the one in Nucleus Contour.
