Guest guest
Hello, Can somebody explain me please why the person should have the SAME tapping procedure for , for example fear of water 1.Even though I have a fear of water I deeply and completely accept myself. And then the person is tapping : fear of water, fear of water, fear of water … OR 2. Even though I have a fear of water I choose to overcome this problem. Should the person tap fear of water in this case too? Or should the person tap on something like overcome the fear of water? Thank you

Another option is to alternate one with the other. I believe the process involves re-programming the subconscious to accept a new reponse to water, by removing the fear response and replacing it with the acceptance response that water does not have to be feared in an irrational way, but can be viewed rationally. Any phobia is created by an unconscious over-reaction from the primitive fight/flight response section of the brain. EFT reprograms the subconscious to not set off the response. An interesting book that anyone interested in phobias might want to look at, is " Emotional Intelligence " by Goleman. Blessings, Nels To all...Oh how I wish that was true........I need help. I am *DEATHLY* afraid of being in the water either in a boat, swimming...ocean, lake, pool...anything like it....since water and I have not had a good experience in my life. I almost drowned many times at different ages. The ones that really stick with me are: ** Very young child in ocean w/ parents holding me by hands swinging me into the water/waves ( I actually remember the drowning feelings as water splashed my face from the waves. ** Child around 9 or 10 at beach outing from camp when someone let go of my hand from the line of kids going into the water and I was dragged into the surf. ** Teenager with my dad in ocean when waves hit us both, we went down and he found me by stepping on me since I was on the bottom and could not figure how to get up. ** Adult on vacation with friend, while floating-swimming in a calm Caribbean ocean- due to undertow that almost took us into the rock jetty. *** As an adult I was thrown into a pool fully clothed at a party, as a joke....and almost drowned since my throat closes up and I can't breathe. Took me 1/2 an hour to calm down and then my night was ruined from the ordeal. Anyone else would have laughed, gotten into something dry and enjoyed the party. have never loved to swim but learned basics as a child...I can swim simple strokes, paddle around a bit, I can go underwater for less then a minute maybe, but must be able to touch the bottom of a pool. I NEVER dive in, always must walk to see how deep it is. I won't swim in the ocean or lakes since I was forced to jump into the dark black lake to show I could swim with the big kids... as a 13 year old kid at camp. I felt as if I was drowning till I got my hand on the ladder and could not swim since I was very panicked. They made me stay on the beach area and wasn't allowed out to the floating dock for the rest of the camp experience. To this day, I won't go near water if someone mentions they *might* push me in or fool around in the water with me. I am scared to death and panic inside at the thought. Since I became chemically sensitive 6 years ago I would not go in a pool anymore anyway, due to the chemicals. Chlorine and I do not work well either. Therefore...last week I totally shocked and surprised myself.... I haven't been anywhere near a body of water that I could swim in for over 6 years. While vacationing at my sister's house for the weekend, I actually agreed to go kayaking with my sister and brother in law and my husband..at my sisters very strong urging and cajoling. She would not take no for an answer and said I would have a life jacket on so I would never sink, and they would give me the most stable larger size kayak that balances easier, and help me in and out of it. In my heart, I really DID want to try this ....and... I went, managed to keep my fears quiet by self talk all the way over to the place, ( no I did not do EFT thought) got into the kayak and had a ball for 1 1/2 hours out on the calm marsh water lake. It was heaven to be so close to the water finally, yet not be scared to death I was going into it and possibly drown. Every time I started feeling that thought, I brushed it away and kept paddling. Did I feel safe in the kayak...no... yet...I did it anyway and I still don't believe I did. YET TODAY, NOW.... I still do not feel that I have mastered my fears of water and still would not just jump into water and not be afraid. How do I remove this fear when I will not go into the water? Sometimes I can panic just by thinking about *what can happen* and it feels terrible inside me. ***** How do I do EFT... if...I panic even when it is not the actual experience of being in the water. How does one go about healing/ solving this when my head says...*** unless I am actually IN THE WATER SITUATION PHYSICALLY and are actually EXPERIENCING the fear while in the water...*** I can not really in my heart believe EFT WILL get rid of my fear of water. I read all the *miracle healings* of others, BUT...this fear is so strong the thought of working on it actually scares me too. I am a grown woman in her late 50's and would love to finally be free of this Water Fear. ****** Thanks for letting me explain and sorry for so long a post, but I wanted to really explain the best I could. My feeling is that there are several aspects to your situation - like peeling the layers from an onion. And some may not even involve a phobia of water but actually relate to trauma. There is a pattern where it might seem that you have been a victim of abusive behaviour for example. Also there is some indication that the fear may be more related to claustaphobia or being smothered and not actually a water phobia. Your relationship with water may only be one conscious prudence, colored by some subconscious trauma effects. Your fear of even trying EFT may be related to fear of failure, or not wanting to lose the fear of water. Fear of losing the fear! Who knows, maybe that fear of water has already saved your life at some point! My advice would be to review the basic videos offered on CD at 's Site. I might even have a set I could send you. And then try EFT on some other things that are less stressful. This will give you first hand experience with the process. Personally I freak out when I see small children playing on rocks and such, next to deep water and they are not wearing a life preserver. The number of loved ones that drown each year during the summer is appalling. We need not fear water, but certainly many people could have a far healthier respect for it. All the best, Nels
