Hey all,

We just finished a wonderful weekend with a major drama for our

church. I don't think I have ever worked so hard with 6-8 hour

rehearsals a week. Well, I'll get to my point.

I was watching the more advanced dancers practice their hiphop number

they were going to do and they wanted one girl to roll over the back

of another. She was really hesitant because she said she weighed

alot. This lady is thin, trim, and very athletic. She is about my

height too. Anyway, I said you can't weigh that much. She said yes

I can. I weigh 132! I said NO WAY!!! That's what I weigh and I

thought I was getting fat (well I knew what I meant). So, what does

that tell me? It tells me that muscle weighs more than fat. She may

weigh the same but she probably has alot more muscle. So... that

means.... I dunno, but it was a real shocker. I told when he

saw her after the drama to look at her and tell me if she is skinnier

than me, of course he said his usual, " I don't know " .

Muscle weighs more than fat so if we weigh the same I could have more

fat weight than she. Now that is an interesting concept. I know I

haven't danced as long as her and I don't have the body she does. So

if I exercise more and lose the fat, I could still be maintaining the

same weight because muscle weighs more than fat? You see, I don't

want to get caught up again in the weight issue. That isn't logical

when you think about it. I mean weight, bones, organs, clothes etc.

So, I want to concentrate on body contouring. I am rambling. You

all are awfully quiet out there.

So, anyway, that is food for thought.

Hi a

You raise an interesting point. I own a couple of Curves for Women fitness

gyms and I see this all the time. I will weigh and measure a member and their

inches have gone down but their weight will stay the same. Curves does

strength training so it is building your muscle which is a good thing. I'll ask

ladies ..don't your clothes fit better (they say well yes) and they can see the

inch loss..but they still fixate on the scale. Sometimes I wish I could chuck

it out the window. lol.

You are right in not getting all caught up in the weight issue post op. All

though the scale says one thing your body shows something else. For instance,

I still weight 190 lbs. and wear a size 12 jeans. The last time I wore size

12 jeans, I was 34 and weight 143 lbs. So you go figure........

Miriam-

Thanks for sharing- I'm at 170 and bought a pair of size 10 petite pants

yesterday(I am down 30 pounds since surgery)- the last time I wore this size I

weighed about 140- it's really odd, but true!
