Jerome-- I have had severe to profound hearing loss since birth and profound

loss before I got my first CI in 2002 and I went bilateral in 2003 and I have

not regretted a moment of it even though my journey has been very bumpy and

just starting to smooth out. Bilateral CIs give me a fuller sound, directional

hearing which I need for my job ( I work in a nursing home). I only speak for

myself. Everyone's decison on whether to get a CI bilateral or not is very

personal and well worth it. It takes a lot of work and energy.... It is not a

overnight success.

Do both ears sound the same? Or different? I emailed one implantee from

hearingcompanions.com and she said it's not but it gives her full sounding.

I feel very fortunate to have some sense of bilateral hearing because I have

those good bass sonds in my unimplanted ear. So in my case my ears sound

totally different and it is not a problem. Our brains meld everything together

eventually.
