Guest guest
We all know of Phoebe Prince, the 15 year old girl who originally came from Ireland and was bullied here in the USA, and the end of that we know very sadly:*(. But, did you know of this suicide? Of a short statured kid named, Jon Carmichael?:*( Sometimes, the media gets me mad, and I don't mean to stir up any anti-race (against my own actually) or anti rich sentiments, but it seems that if a pretty white girl or if she is from a rich family, pretty or not then, goes missing, kills herself, whatever, it gets the National Media's attention every day for weeks on end, sometimes months at times. Now, this not to say those those type of people, remember I am white so I am speaking of myself, shouldn't get that immense attention (example and I am NOT putting her or her being found down, Smart-pretty white girl and God bless her too as she is a human being just like me and you as well as ALL of us, the key here;)). BUT, shouldn't everyone get the same equal attention? Isn't this the 'Land of Equal Opportunity' and treatment, or so it's touted as being? I know, I know, some are laughing at me and some with me at that one, and to the news' credit lately, it does seems that more and more of the 'missing' are being reported, of all types, and they should be:). However, did most of you hear of Jon Carmichael's suicide as much as Phoebe's? And again, don't get me wrong, I would be bring back Phoebe in a heart beat:), if I could, and Jon as well;). Was Phoebe pretty? Yes, seriously pretty, in this guy's eye, I'll admit that. BUT, is prettiness or should prettiness or even one's economic status be a factor in looking for them and/or remembering them? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11GbWRp_7-0 http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/education/bullied-8th-grader-commits-suicide http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/03/bullied-teen-commits-suicide-i.\ html http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/ http://www.cdc.gov/ViolencePrevention/suicide/index.html http://www.phoebeslaw.com/ http://www.phoebeslaw.com/Legislators.html Talk to your kids, because sometimes they are not telling you all that you think you know of them. I didn't. And yes, I'll admit it, even with my humor, laughter, it's NOT easy being small at times.
