Guest guest
To Sue, who is one month out and still having diarrhea: I had the same problem...It was due to having become lactose intolerant, which is not uncommon after MGB. I was following protocol and eating my yogurt every day when I read on the message board that lactose intolerance is more common than you might think after MGB, so I cut out the yogurt and that relieved my problem. Now Dannon has come out with the Activia, which maintains the body's good " flora " without the lactose, so you might try switching to it...I am able to tolerate it with no problems. I still have severe agent orange after 2-1/2 years, and I am GREATFUL for this. I also get what I call the " oily farts, " which means sometimes when I am passing gas, that orange oil comes out with the gas. It can make quite a mess, and is an unpleasant surprise to find the next time you use the restroom. This is a bit of a problem at times, so when I am going though periods of it, I have taken to wearing the extra-long panty-liners " in case. " Of course, I can avoid a lot of it if I don't eat greasy foods...I don't eat fried foods, but ribs and butter will almost always do it to me, and sometimes even the " good " fats like olive oil, cheese and nuts. But even though it's an inconvenience, I am thankful that my body is still passing the fats on through and not absorbing them. in Atlanta 06/03/04 290/
