Guest guest
Well sprouts ARE raw food, the best type at that because of all the nutrition packed into them! So not only would this sproutperson be interested in the raw food lifestyle, I already am into it. I was certified as a raw chef through Alissa Cohen's program 2 months ago, and also purchased her bood and DVD, as well as a sprializer (to make zucchini pasta). I'm not 100% raw yet, because I still eat wild Alaskan salmon with steamed organic brown rice about 3 times a week. Other than the occasional 'healthy', 50% cooked meal when I'm a guest, I say I'm about 85% raw. Good luck to your newfound health, Tweetybird_109 <tweetybird_109@...> wrote: I bought the alissa cohen book and DVD. It's fantastic! I'm in the process of reorganizing my kitchen to make it raw food friendly. I tried raw food for two days and felt great but then I ate two pieces of pizza last night and felt instantly bloated and got a headache. I'm starting today again though. I highly recommend this book:Living on Live Food available at alissacohen.com. SHe's very down to earth and makes this diet accessible. I should probably join a raw food group. I know all you sprouters might not be interested in this topic.

Guest guest
In a rice steamer - you can get one for cheap just about anywhere...Wal-Mart, Target, etc. It takes a bit longer until it's tender, but the rice turns out better I think. Then I like to toss it with organic extra virgin coconut oil, then, since it has cooled down a bit, sprouts - either sunflower or broccoli and/or mustard greens. I marinate the salmon in lime juice in the morning, then bake it in a small glass container with fresh roma tomato puree and crushed red pepper. It's very easy, quick, and has a tropical kick. - R B <cvette1981@...> wrote: I never heard of steaming rice......other than the obvious (steam) how do you cook your rice? Guest guest
I could not sleep last night and was channel surfing at some horrible hour of the morning; while flipping by the "Tyra Banks Show" I hear "RAW", so I stopped and listened. I came in on the middle of a discussion of "diets". When I got there a very fit, handsome doctor was talking about eating burgers and losing weight. There were two other "experts" sitting on the side and were arguing with him. Then it was Alissa's turn and while they gave her time I don't think they were very polite to her, especially the doctor. He was rolling his eyes and shaking his head and asking for "scientific proof" of whatever it was she said. She made angel hair pasta (with the saladacco) with marinara sauce while on the air. He wouldn't taste it at first and then made a horrible face when he finally took a thimble size taste. After that they proceeded to introduce 6 women divided into three teams for a weight loss challenge. They said it will air in a few months. Any Tyra watchers out there? I'd like to see the end of it all. Maybe I'll try to write Alissa and encourage her to put it out to the raw boards when it will air. My only concern was that Alissa did not come across as looking very healthy at all. She actually looked overweight. I'm hoping it was only the illusion of television, but from where I was laying, it was not a very good advertisement for raw food. Anybody else catch the show?
