Everyone knew that I was a candidate when I was gougn through all of this

but they had to try another hearing aid in me anyway...paperwork aka required

Pete,

The implant center will likely have you tested for a

CI and from the sounds of this audiogram, I believe

you are going to meet the requirements for further

evaluation. You're hearing test seems to easily fit

within the range.

Let us know when you are going to the implant center.

Hi Alice, I'm calling s Hopkins Tuesday morning and find out if

they want me to mail the test to them or bring it with me. I guess I

will need to make the appointment at least a month from now cuz I

have to arrange transportation. to Baltimore. I'll let everyone know

when it is. Maybe they can test me Wednsday, operate Thusday, and

hook me up Friday. Yeah, that's the ticket....

Yeah, I understand the Feds have a specific protocol that has to be

followed and that may or may not mean a trial period for new HAs. It

seems to me to be a waste of time but I guess the Ts have to be

crossed and the Is dotted. It's just so some unethical surgeon

doesn't abuse people and perform surgery on someone who doesn't need

it.

Hi there,

Here's my audiogram....

in this order (frequency / right ear / left ear)

250 / 55 / 60

500 / 80 / 75

1000 / 95 / 105

2000 / 75 / 95

4000 / 120 / NR

8000 / NR / NR

NR means No Response.

I don't know why my 2000 hertz is better than 1000 hertz... probably due to

resonance in the ear canal. Usually, I use my right ear coupled with lip

reading because the 2000 hertz is a bit good.

Do you think I should worry about the candidacy thing?

Jerome

Jerome,

The way that I read the candidacy documents, the dB level is much less

of an issue than your word recognition (speech discrimination). I would

look at the 3 manufacturer's websites and then get the tests they talk

about performed so you have a basis for comparison.
