Hi Jan,

First I want to say that I appreciate your forthrightness and trust

in sharing this on a public forum. It shows that you really care

about the issue.

Next, I will state (perhaps needlessly) that I am a male, married for

about 8 years, with step and blood children, with a very

active " physical " life if you know what I am trying to delicately to

say.

There are many issues in a man's psyche that can and do lead to the

issues you bring up. And there are many physical issues as well that

can come into play. One thing to remember is that this issue is

normal and natural on occassion, and happens to us all at times. If

it is a recurring issue, then some discernment as to the cause is in

order.

There are many questions I would ask him, if I were talking to him,

to help resolve the issue, but don't feel that a public forum is

appropriate. If you or he feels comfortable, feel free to email me

privately.

That being said, if the issue is merely a matter of arousal and

desire, there is a great " male energy formula " in the files that I

give to newlyweds for their wedding night that has shown great

success. I have used it myself and find it to be quite, well,

enervating.

However, that could just be a band-aid. The root of the issue needs

to be discerned. There are many on this list that are very

knowledgeable and willing to freely give of what they know. We are

here to help in any way we can, even in situations like yours (or

anyone elses which are simular). If you feel somewhat reluctant

to " bare it all " in the public forum, email one of us privately, and

we'll do all we can to help.

We are a family, and we love each other dearly.

Suzanne~ DH's job has been the same stress level for quite some time.... Nothing else has changed, that I know of anyway, at work.

Thank you, , for your carefully worded response. :-) I guess I'll email you off list then? Thanks~

Jan,

It could be just a passing thing.

Sometimes men passing through middle age have transient attacks of impotence of

varying degrees. My advice would be to wait and see, and above all relax

about it. When I went through this with my dear hubby I was scared to

death it was permanent and the cause was his diabetes or something worse.

Turned out to be nothing at all, and I am happy to say we are doing fine.

Most men who develop more serious and/or

permanent problems also have an underlying disorder. The most prevalent

in the US

are diabetes mellitus type II and hypertension. So if he is healthy just

make sure he knows you still love him and see if it resolves itself. If it

persists for more than a month or he is having other problems, try to find the

underlying cause and go from there.

Hi Jan

From what little you have told us I would suspect, as Janet already

mentioned or.....he managed to injure himself whilst lifting those free

weights. It is very easy to injure oneself this way, especially using

free weights. Now I am not saying this is the case, only pointing it out

as a possibility.

Then again, it might be a combination of many things. How open and

honest is your DH with himself and his feelings? Even though men may be

very capable of dealing with stress it has its effects on the male

reproductive system sooner or later and it does not need to be a lot of

stress either. We are all different.

I don't see colon cleansing as being overly or even somewhat helpful

here. Nor juicing. I might be wrong but I think he has just overly

stressed himself by taking up weight lifting again. Maybe he took on too

much too soon without building back up to it. Maybe it is just too much

for him right now. Who knows. But from what you have written below that

appears to be the only common denominator here.

I truly hope that he will get back into his normal condition soon.

However, there is one other thing to consider, men do eventually lose

the ability and it can happen at his age. He isn't diabetic or, as they

say, prediabetic is he?

HTH,

Don Quai

Thank you Don Quai~

I think he hurt himself with the free weights, too... or at least that

didn't help. He's been to the chiropractor twice now in the last week, and

the same set of segments were out both times (and one of those segments

affects the reproductive organs apparently).

The only other thing that's changed with DH's work is that he's Not working

as many hours... From early spring through the beginning of November he was

working his full time job (he's a computer programmer & IT person for a

local internet company) and a side job (which was 3- 4 hrs after the full

time job, 4 days a week). Once the side job ended, he totally relaxed, got

to spend more time with the kids (we have 8), decided to start with the

weights, and 2 weeks later now he's had 'issues'. I thought him _not_ having

the stress of the side job was a good thing... but now I'm wondering if he

was addicted to the *rush* of the job or something. I don't know.

DH is very quiet... but I point blank asked him some personal questions last

night, which he was totally open about, so he Is willing to talk to me, he's

just not the one to bring up emotional or personal things himself.

DH doesn't have diabetes (his mother does though), high blood pressure, or a

family history of heart problems. His father died when he was 12 from lung

cancer (smoked like a chimney from what DH tells me). I guess the only other

thing I didn't mention is that DH is first generation Mexican/American (both

his parents were from Mexico), so I suppose that makes him more prone to

diabetes, but we've been big on herbs and vitamins and trying to avoid

disease to counteract that.

Thank you again~

Jan, I would have him checked for diabetes

just in case. It can be very subtle in its early stages, and if you catch it

now you can definitely deal with it naturally and avoid the nasty problems that

can arise later on. He is at high risk from what you have said of his family

and racial history. As always, let us know how you and he are doing ;-)
