Guest guest
I am 44 years old and have Achondroplasia. I was told today by my neurosurgeon that I need a lamenectomy (with possible fusion) from C5-T1. Has anyone had all these areas done at once or some of them? If so, how did it turn out and where did you have it done? My doctor said this will be a very complicated surgery on account of my cervical being so curved (and going forward). He has to consult with a team of doctors to discuss the procedure and is going to get back to me next week. As you can imagine, I am very concerned. My doctor has operated on a couple of other little people (including me--he did a L1-L5 bilateral lamenectomy on me 2 1/2 years ago with success). A complete cervical MRI was done a couple of weeks ago (C1 to the T area) The only symptom that I am having (and have for the past 3 months) is that my pinky and ring finger on both hands are numb (which I was told stems from C7-T1, but that area doesn't look that bad on my MRI), but C-5 and C-6 on the MRI is showing compression to the spinal cord, but I currently have no symptoms for that area. I still have strength in my hand, fingers and arms, and I am able to write and type with no problem. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Kathy
