So, when an MRI is needed, it can be done without having to remove the magnet. I can get more details on this for you from one of the area reps. I know I saw a bunch of stick on magnets in a package and she explained it was for people who had acoustic neuromas or other conditions that require frequent MRIs, so they don't have a magnet implanted. But in answer to your question, YES she can have a CI, and still have MRIs. The Nucleus implant has a removeable implanted magnet that can be taken out when an MRI is needed, but if she's going to require frequent ones, the external magnet is the way to go. I'll get the information and forward it to the list. You need to get to an implant center, have your little miracle child evaluated, and they can tell you about the external magnet as well. BUT her neurosurgeon last week told me we couldn't do it because she will need frequent MRI's throughout her life. Is he right?? Can people with CI's still have MRI's on their head??
