Just the stapes foot plate remained... he had a titanium implant inserted in July, we have his audiologist appointment this week to see what affect it has had. We THINK it has helped a bit, but he does get bothered by some pitches and vibrations now, like loud low noises in a movie theatre seem to resonate it in a way that bothers him... he says it sounds like a speaker vibrating in his head. Guest guest Posted October 10, 2011 Report Share Posted October 10, 2011 I had one of my hearing bones replaced and my hearing is at the lower end of the normal range in that ear. However, I do have issues in noisy environments and with very loud sounds. It seems to work fine for normal voice ranges, but starts sounding more like a cheap speaker the louder sounds are. But it's not a big issue, and definitely worth it! I recommend trying the reconstruction before going another route.
