Guest guest
Sounds like ABR test to me... I had that before but not on my CI evaluation. ABR stands for auditory brainsteam response. They will check if your auditory nerves are okay. Regards/ Jerome
Guest guest
Hi Jerome, In other words, the ABR is designed to determine whether my hearing loss is caused by nerve damage as opposed to conductive HL or nervous system disorders such as auditory neuropathy? Is that right? I was born prematurly (weighing 2 pounds at birth) and aside from hearing loss, auditory neuropathy can be one complication. However, given my long history of successful HA use, that diagnosis wouldn't make sense because amplification is not usually effective for people with AN. Will the ABR be able to provide my CI audi with further information about the degree of my hearing loss? The reason I ask this is because according to my CI audi, my right ear showed a significant decrease in hearing when it was tested last week. Guest guest
Mogan had this test to diagnose her, talk to your audie about the tone burst vs the clicks. I believe the tone burst test is more accurate. Guest guest
I had a similar test where electrodes(I guess) were attached to my forehead, and beneath each ear. I believe I was told it was a brainstem test of some sort. I heard a sound, buzz like, and a couple of techs looked at computer screens, talked among themselves, smiled at me, and motioned thumbs up. I learned nothing from them and felt I was just a guinea pig for their tests. I don't even believe they were connected to the hospital as I saw them leave the building as I was waiting for my transportation. Possibly they were sales reps promoting a new test. Les G Nuc 24C 3G Tuesday: More Info My CI audi e-mailed me with some information about the test I'll be having on Tuesday. It involves attaching electrodes to my face and ears -- as well as inserting an earphone into my ear. I am supposed to lie down and relax during the entire test while the computer tracks the information transmitted by the electrodes. Did any of you have a similar test during your CI evaluation?
